The Waterfest Concert

The Waterfest concert in Oshkosh (population 55,006, the H appears to be silent) was another FREE concert providing you get there before 7.00 so I made sure I did! Some guy near me said that he was a regular Waterfest visitor and he'd never seen it as busy as tonight! There were some benches to sit on but most people stood for Todd. They played in front of a brick wall!

The support group who played for about an hour were Those Darned Accordions which consisted of a drummer, one guitarist and three girls and two guys on accordions. They played a mixture of tunes but the biggest cheer was for when the 85 year old guy sang Rod Stewart's Do Ya Think I'm Sexy!

Kasim Sulton in Oshkosh - 29th June 2000 Our Trio came on at 8.30 and played for an hour and forty minutes with Kasim in charge of the watch and deciding that they had time for another song! As it was a cool evening Kasim wore a long sleeved jumper for a change. He used his walking cane for getting on and off the stage and again sat whenever he could, however he's taping his left foot more now. He's also able to use his foot pedal properly whereas for a few concerts Kasim was having to use his fist on it! Kasim's pearl coloured guitar seems to be getting more and more decorated as the tour progresses!

Unfortunately I Hate My Frickin ISP didn't go down too well tonight (probably because people don't recognise it) but the crowd warmed up when they heard Couldn't I Just Tell You. During that song, when they got to the dance part, Todd looked straight at Kasim and they both decided not to do the kicks thankfully!

During Todd Solo Spot tonight he asked the crowd if it was Wisconsin where rock stars often die! He seemed reassured when he was told that they haven't done recently!

Not surprisingly, the sound wasn't perfect tonight and during Secret Society there was a problem with the mixing as the keyboards backing tape appeared to come out of the right speaker and the band out of the left for the first verse!

Although it's another new song, Yer Fast went down really well again. It was followed by The Ikon but again there was a problem with the sound as they didn't turn the sound down on Todd's guitar after he'd done his spotlight part so for the first third of Kasim's spotlight time, all we could hear was Todd's guitar and not Kasim's!

After Open My Eyes and Buffalo Grass we had the usual One World (complete with punch and probably the only time that Oshkosh has featured in a song!) before encores of Hammer In My Heart and then World Wide Epiphany.

Another great free concert!
