The Falling Over Concert

The Sun Theatre had some of the most helpful and friendly staff of the tour but unfortunately it was only about three quarters full tonight. The front five rows were very close to the stage and then there were two other tiers with tables. Everybody seemed very outgoing and friendly in the audience and there were loads of real Todd fans comparing the POV tour to the Second Wind Tour to the With A Twist Tour and so on! It was great to listen to!

The concert was supposed to start at 8.00 but the band didn't come on until 8.30 (there was no support band) and Todd promptly stated that the delay was due to us the audience taking so long to get to our seats!

When he realised that the other two weren't following him, he just put his bottle of water onto his amp and walked off again! After a few seconds Kasim came back on stage and put his guitar on and started to strum it (after he'd checked his microphone was his customary "Hey")! It was a couple of minutes before Trey and Todd came on!

This concert was one of the longer ones as it lasted over two hours and was an interesting set list, even though they didn't play Trapped tonight. Todd stated that they don't have a set list and just play whatever vibes he gets from the audience! Obviously I didn't vibe enough tonight!

Todd was in fine verbal form tonight! He noticed that there were several empty seats in front of him so he told people to come down from the upper tiers. He got two girls who had come all the way from Japan for some of the concerts to move up too!

After the opening three songs, they started Hit Me Like A Train but after Todd had sung a couple of lines he stopped it by saying that they don't play it that often and that they were playing it "too frickin' fast"! Later he slowed down another song too.

Several people called out a Happy Birthday to Todd but he said that they weren't even close and that three days was close! He reminded them that it was still Father's Day today too!

# One Lowest Common Denominator went on for a long time tonight and, amazingly, Todd didn't break any guitar strings all evening! They followed that song with There Goes My Inspiration which sounds so much better now than the first time they played it on the tour.

Thankfully they sang Yer Fast again tonight, followed by Temporary Insanity which is usually always played after Todd's Solo Spot. After that they played both The Ikon and Open My Eyes and I began to wonder if Todd was going to do any songs by himself (I noticed that Kasim kept looking at his watch too!). The Ikon tonight was one of the best versions ever as all three of them took a longer time than normal in the spotlight (even Kasim as halfway through he changed key which was very effective).

Eventually Todd announced that the rhythm section had to have a break due to union rules before he sang his usual two songs.

After a long Mystified Melody, disaster struck during Couldn't I Just Tell You! For the first time on this tour, Kasim and Todd started doing their scissor legs jumping but they'd only done one when Kasim got tangled up in his guitar lead and fell over right onto his bum! Although he sat there and laughed and then laughed even more when he got to his microphone it was obvious that he'd hurt himself as he kept favouring his left leg and really hobbled off stage. He later said that he'd hurt his back as he landed!

Thankfully the next song was Buffalo Grass which Kasim sings a lot in so he could stand at his mike for most of it but he certainly didn't move much during One World and they took a long time to come back on-stage for the two encores.

After World Wide Epiphany (lots of the audience stood dancing at the front of the stage for the encores) Todd said goodbye to the West Coast and all three of them signed several autographs before Kasim hobbled off stage.

My f***ing foot hurts!
