Hammer In My Heart
The Surf Talks
World Wide Epiphany
This was the first of the three casino concerts of the tour. After I wandered around all the slot machines and gambling tables I entered the Dreamcatcher Lounge which was well laid out and (expensive!) drinks were brought to us all evening.
There was no support group and the band came out fifteen minutes late for their one hour forty minutes set. No sooner had Todd come out (they had to duck under the backdrop picture of Todd!) than he mouthed that he'd be back and he went off to get his glasses!
Todd managed not to break any strings again tonight (as I was in the third row I could see exactly how thin his are) but, more surprisingly, they didn't play either The Ikon or the Mystified Melody.
This certainly seems to be a part of the globe that appreciates Kasim a lot as, once again, several people (guys and girls) were calling out his name. Trapped (complete with his hand mimes) got a massive cheer too!
Todd's topical banter today was about the fact that he's now mature enough to play in casinos and asked us to imagine him in large lapels! He also claimed during Bang The Drum that we were clapping along like Democrats! In One World, Todd again asked where the hell we were!
This was another brilliant concert of the tour but I felt that all the band lacked some exubrence compared to last night's show. Possibly it was because of the late night and then today's flight or maybe it was because it was a seated venue and the atmosphere is usually better in a standing venue. Some people did get up to dance but security soon got them to return to their seats - most people remained sitting until (and even during) World Wide Epiphany!
