The Videoed Concert

The Maritime Hall was in a really dodgy part of San Francisco. As I was on my own at this concert, I was very wary of walking past several winos to get from my car to the hall. After going up a few flights of stairs, the hall itself was an extremely dark auditorium.

The concert was advertised on the telephone message as starting at 8.00 but the support band didn't go on stage until 9.00. The support band were called Keno (I think) who were another of these bands who sacrificed melody for volume.

On the tour last year, Todd played Slims in San Francisco twice but tonight there were probably only the equivilant of the size of one of those audiences so it was quite easy to get near the front (especially on Kasim's side) but they were a very receptive crowd!

Todd, Kasim and Trey came on stage at 10.00 and played until just before midnight (not ideal if you have an early flight to San Diego the next morning which is probably why, for a change, I didn't see the band at the airport!). For the first time too, this concert was videoed - there was a boom camera and a shoulder held one beside Kasim that kept getting in my way! Todd complained early in the concert that in order to video they have to have as many lights on as possible so that the band end up looking all sweaty!

The set list was in a different order tonight (both Yer Fast and Trapped were played early) but it seemed to gel well. Todd managed not to break any strings tonight but instead his amp went off so they restarted that track!

For only the second time on this tour, Todd played The Beatles "Got to Hide Your Love Away" in his solo spot before Bang The Drum.

The Ikon lasted quite a while tonight (even Kasim extended his part), as did the Mystified Melody with Todd doing some great screams in that although he wasn't too happy with the way he played the ending of the song by the look he gave Kasim!

Tonight in One World Todd just sang the correct words but shouted out the San Francisco part!
