The Unusual Set Order Concert

Although there were signs that it was the Entertainment Area of Kansas City, the Beaumont Club was located in a very run-down part of the city. After having to prove that I'm over 21 (not something we have to do in UK!) my right wrist was stamped with a "Confidential" sign so that I could buy a drink at an extorniate price!

Maybe it's because it's reportedly a seven hour drive to tomorrow night's concert in Minneapolis, but there was no support group tonight and the set lasted only just over ninety minutes.

It was an unusual set today as songs seemed to be in a different order to normal. We had the usual opening of I Hate My Frickin ISP but then Todd launched into Couldn't I Just Tell You instead of the expected Play This Game. It totally caught Kasim out too as I saw him jokingly ask Todd "What's this?!!" with a smile!

They went back on track with Love of the Common Man and #1 Lowest Common Denominator but a couple of songs later they played The Ikon a lot earlier in the set than normal. My one complaint about this song is that Kasim just doesn't take the spotlight for long enough - out of the three of them, Kasim's turn in the spotlight is always the shortest. As he counts the others in when he's "done his bit", I just think it's a shame that it cuts it that short as he's so talented on the bass.

After they'd played Yer Fast And I Like It (and I DO like that song!), Todd announced that Kasim and Trey needed a break so we had Todd's solo spot of the usual two songs. Today Todd named his yuekele "Eugene"!

Trapped really got the crowd rocking tonight and, for a change, Todd didn't manage to catch Kasim out at the beginning of the song!

They ended with One World before coming back for two encores. Amazingly, Todd managed the whole concert without breaking a string but he missed a line in World Wide Epiphany so Kasim sang it on his own which sounded great to me!

Check out the Fans Encounters page for a great story about Kasim at this concert!
