Second Set
Towards the end of the set they did three Utopia tracks back to back, Love in Action, Hammer in my Heart and then Trapped! However, Kasim, Todd and Jessie all had problems with their guitars through the show but at the beginning of Trapped, Todd's was playing up so Kasim just sang a few bars before he stopped. While Todd was changing his guitar, Kasim (jokingly) complained that this was his big moment in the show and then that he was going home and walked off stage! John then got his knees to plead with him to come back and when he did, he got a loud round of applause!! It was so funny!
After one more track they all went off stage and the roadies started taking down the microphones and drums! I began to get worried as I couldn't believe that they'd only be on stage for one hour but then the crew set up a keyboard and a girl singer, Julie Christensen, came on. She had a good voice but the songs she sang were awful and her dress sense was diabolical!
Todd and the band came on again after about an hour. They played some mellow songs (all except Expresso) and it was set in a Hawaiian bar. They also got some of the audience up on stage to sit at small tables to create the atmosphere. After a couple of songs some people gave Todd rings of flowers to wear and one girl climbed onto a table and walked on stage to give Todd a kiss. Later the same girl was standing by her seat dancing and a security guard told her to sit down (even though she wasn't in anybody's way) so Todd yelled at him (in the middle of a song!) to leave her alone. Unfortunately, this encouraged her even more so she went on stage three more times to kiss Todd!
All through the second set, Todd was drinking a mixture of martinis and shorts so by the end of the set, he was giggling quite a bit and the last song was fairly incoherent!
