In June and July 1998 Kasim went on the road with Richie Sambora, touring Japan, Australia, Germany, Holland and England. The rumors are that he originally auditioned for Bon Jovi a couple of years previously and, when Richie Sambora's original bassist had to drop out, Kasim was offered the place at relatively short notice.

After a few days rehearsal in Los Angeles they performed 5 concerts in Japan before they flew to Australia for five more concerts as well as television and radio appearances.

After a three week break they flew to Europe for eight concerts before returning again to the US for a couple of television appearances.

Later in 1998, Kasim appeared alongside Jon Bon Jovi at a Bon Jovi fan club convention
