Kasim was wearing light blue jeans, a brown (loose) patterned shirt with a black collar and suede boots. During the concert they did a melody of three Beatles songs in which Kasim sang a lot and his voice really came over clearly! The encore just consisted of the one song (not even any band introductions), With A Little Help of My Friends - I really enjoy that song as Kasim hits some amazingly high notes in it (and makes some amazing faces to hit them sometimes!).
There was one really wonderful part of this concert which occurred after the Bon Jovi song I’ll Be There For You. The band were changing guitars, ready for the next song, when the audience kept singing the words “aahh, I’ll Be There For You”. This continued for a while and then the band just stood facing the audience, listening to us! (Kasim stood at the front of the stage, resting his foot on one of the monitors, listening to us and smiling!) Eventually the band joined in and jammed the end of the song again!
Nuremburg – 17th July 1998
I reached the venue (which seemed to be a castle-like setting) by 6.00. Again, I could hear the band rehearsing inside (but I didn’t recognise what they were playing). They let us in promptly at 6.30 and I managed to get a second row place in front of Kasim. As the guy in front of me moved away, I managed to get into the front row! There was a sort of moat affair in front of the stage which separated the band from the audience (it would have looked lovely except that it was filled with weeds!) and the actual venue was a sort of courtyard with very high walls. It was outside but luckily it was a lovely summer evening. Unfortunately it also meant that I got pestered by a wasp for a while too! The Concert
Richie Sambora came on stage promptly (rather too promptly for Kasim, I think, as he was still smoking when he walked on stage!) at 7.34 but the concert finished abruptly at 9.00. I found out later that it was because they had to go off to do a television show in Mannheim but this wasn’t explained at the time so everybody just stood around when they walked off stage, expecting another encore!
