Review

The Beacon Theatre (which seats 3,017) was almost sold out but was freezing cold! As I paid $100 for my ticket, I think that they could have run to some heating! I noticed that even after Life is a Lemon Kasim was blowing on his hands and halfway through the concert Patti walked on wearing her coat so soon Charlie put Pearl's around her shoulders!

Patti and Pearl with coats!

Another thing that was wrong with tonight's show (but definitely NOT something that I was complaining about!) was that during Objects in the Rear View Mirror Kasim's microphone was turned up very loud so he nearly drowned out Meat for the lines that just him and Meat sing!

Tonight they got a guy up on the piano again for the "On a hot Summer's Night" speech. It was nice to see Denise from the Loafdom Mailing List and Anne and Susan from the UK Fan Club up on stage as part of the Meat Loaf New York City Pops Choir for You Took the Words! Denise also asked Meat a question earlier in the show too!

Meat decided to sing For Crying Out Loud as this time he reckoned that if it wasn't for a radio station in New York playing the Bat Out of Hell album it wouldn't have been a hit. it was interesting that Meat said that Bat out of Hell was written all around this area as Meat used to live in 74th Street, Jim Steinman lived nearby and they rehearsed all the tracks in the hotel just opposite the theatre! Meat's voice sounded a lot stronger tonight after having a week off and they added back some of the background vocals but it still wasn't the full bodied version that they used to play earlier in the tour in the pre-flu days - I noticed at one point that Kasim indicated to the band to play softer as Meat was struggling to be heard. It's also such a shame that they no longer play Rock and Roll Dreams after I'd Lie For You as that really used to get the crowd rocking.

When Meat Loaf introduced the band he admitted that he'd been saying all tour that Ray came from wherever they were playing but that he did actually come from New York! It was good to see lots of the band waving to people they recognised in the audience too!

The Paradise couple were excellent tonight! Non-stop kissing and lots of groping - it was obvious that Meat was impressed with them!

There must be an 11.00 curfew at the Beacon Theatre as they raced through All Revved Up! Usually they play the long intro into it but tonight they just played the album track version! I also notice that Kasim checked his watch just as they finished - it was exactly 11.00!

Despite the icy temperatures, it was a great show and for the first time on the tour, the audience actually stood during Paradise, Bat out of Hell and All Revved Up!
