OK..the show...it was incredible. Meat's voice was in top form...and he was full of energy. He played For Crying Out Loud!!!! It wasn't the whole song, but it was unbelievable, and Meat looked a little drained when he was done. He said that it was one of his favorite songs that he had recorded, but that it was also very difficult to do. I waited a long time to see that song performed live, and it was well worth the wait!

He did pick on a few people who were late, but he wasn't as brutal as he was a few nights earlier. There were quite a few people who definitely had a few too many, but I thought Meat handled them perfectly. I remember this one guy was standing next to one of the guys with a mic, and the guy with the mic said to Meat "you don't want to talk to this guy", who proceeded to take off his shirt. That's all he did..and walked away.

About the girl who did Paradise...I thought it was pretty funny how adamant Kasim was to get her up on stage. When the girl Meat had first called up to do Paradise started backing out, Kasim came right up and started pointing very animatedly (is that a word?) to the girl with the silicon and hair and told Meat to get her up on stage. I missed the part where she lost her hair...all of a sudden I see it in her hand!

But anyway....even though there were some drinkers in the audience, I thought that there were also a lot of people who identified with what Meat went thru in his life and thanked him for being an inspiration to them. I don't know exactly how long the show was, but I thought it was almost 3 hours...but it's always way too short! Meat really gives everything he's got..plus a little more.

Arrived in Atlantic City with a raging fever and a lovely case of laryngitis (courtesy of my son), but was determined not to miss this show that I'd heard so much about. After napping in my room and popping several Advil, I made my way down to the Grand Caymen room. The room itself was not very large, I think Meat referred to the fact that it only held maybe 1500 people, but the setting was perfect for the Storytellers theme.

Meat and two local DJ's started off the show by giving ground rules for the night (the same as previous shows), and Meat was also annoyed at the fact that several front row seats were still empty. The late arriving occupents were later justly crucified by Meat.

The show started off the same as the Europe shows, Home By Now, No Matter What, Life Is A Lemon. All sounding as good as I remembered from Wembley, perhaps even a bit better. I'm not good at remembering set lists and such, but stand-outs for me were For Crying Out Loud and Rock & Roll Dreams. I had never heard FCOL performed live, and it glorious. Meat, himself admitted this was one of his most difficult songs to perform. He did an outstanding job with it. Rock & Roll dreams just blew me away. It was one of those magical moments where everything comes together and you hope the spell is never broken.

The crowd was, well, an Atlantic City crowd. An interesting mix of fans, gamblers, and the curious. But Meat was truly in his element with them. I heard comments that some thought he was rude. I guess to someone who has never experienced a show in this type of venue, that would seem true. Not that I have prejudice either way, but anytime alcohol is involved (and it seems here, in mass quantities), idiots are created. Meat handled them perfectly.

And my god, I know it was a huge hit, but if one more simpleton would have requested Paradise I was going to puke!

Anyway, they got a very interesting (and more than willing) female to volunteer for the Paradise improvisation. Let's just say, she really seemed to benefit from silicon in all the right places. Oh and she had this amusing hair style that sort of lost it's way toward the end of the song.

We also ended up doing the Time Warp somehow.....

Overall I was very impressed with Meat and the show in general. The band sounded great, everyone looked in good spirits and ready to go.

Yes, I probably should have been a good girl and stayed home cuddled up with a bottle of Nyquil, but what's that saying.....good girls go to heaven, bad girls...you get the picture.

I give the show an enthusiastic two thumbs up and highly recommend it for fans and even non-fans. Meat is a talented entertainer who really gives this performance his all.

Off to worship the might Robitussin bottle.

This was defiently the gambling weekend as this was another concert held in a casino - at the Trump Marina, Atlantic City this time in a 1,500 seater hall. It was probably because it was such a small venue that the ticket prices were so high ($78) but it was certainly worth it!

As always, it started with DJs from local radio stations introducing Meat Loaf who explained that requests were not allowed but stories or questions about songs were. He again mentioned that supposedly he has to pay the band $5 every time he says the F word (it usually works out at over $100 a concert!) and then he sang Home By Now / No Matter What. Interestingly, in Europe the curtain used to drop, most times in America it has been pulled upwards but at both these casinos, it was pulled sideways.

Meat was in fine form tonight and was very entertaining, despite having to deal with several drunk people! There was a good link tonight into I'd Lie for You as someone asked if he had received his present that she'd given to Patti so he denied that he had and made out that Patti had lied about giving it to him! After I'd Lie for You, as usual, they went straight into Rock and Roll Dreams and continued it for ages afterwards which was great! It's good to hear Pearl sing part of the intro into that song by herself too.

We heard the full bodied version of For Crying Out Loud tonight again which just has to be heard to be believed! There was also a great link into Hot Pattotie as someone asked what the words were to the song so Meat started saying them and then by the end of the second verse the band had seamlessly joined in playing too! Well done the Musical Director!

The lady that Meat called up for Paradise had apparently misunderstood her question on the questionnaire as she thought that she was going to kiss Meat himself and refused to kiss this quite good looking man lying on the desk! Fortunately, earlier when Meat was asking about big breasted women someone had shown off her bust and she volunteered to be "the straddler" instead and she really threw herself into the part! She was the most outgoing of the tour so far and was even standing on the desk dancing at one point! No wonder Meat threw some cold water over the guy on the desk! Even when her hairpiece fell off, it didn't stop her!

Unfortunately the show only lasted two hours and forty minutes tonight and we didn't have You Took the Words Right Outta my Mouth. At the beginning someone mentioned Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are but, as Meat was due to sing Lawyers, Guns and Money next, he said that he'd get back to it but he never did which was a shame too.

Some guy went to the front of the stage because he wanted to "check out the singers" so Meat had great delight in telling him that Pearl was his daughter! Pearl was back to wearing her trousers tonight and Patti wore a black cocktail style dress without a jacket. Kasim wore black trousers and a loose short sleeved red shiny top which so suited him. I was surprised to see Ray was wearing casual jeans and trainers on stage.

After Meat's "that" explaination before Anything for Love, the blackboard collapsed! Personally, I hope it's terminally damaged.

Although it was shorter and had no unusual songs, it was another great show and it was so nice just to go upstairs to bed afterwards instead of having to drive!
