It was another ornate theatre but it only seated 1,700 so the stage was smaller but the entertainment value wasn't! Tonight we didn't get Pearl's story to take us into Lawyers, Guns and Money but instead some guy was expounding on his opinion of Meat's virtues so Meat dedicated the song to him. The first song requested was Midnight at the Lost and Found and they did the great clapping and drumming intro into it. Damon's guitar rift at the beginning was far quicker and sharper than last night (before they started, as I was near the front again) I could see Kasim telling him to play it "faster, faster") which made the song flow more. It was good to see Kasim and Damon chatting and laughing about it afterwards too.
Right after Midnight someone requested Good Girls Go to Heaven, Bad Girls Go Everywhere so Kasim went off stage to organise for that track to be played through their earpieces and all the band turned to that page in their songbook but, as Meat chatted to that person for so long (mainly about their ample bust), he seemed to forget that they'd requested it and moved on to someone else which I thought was a real shame. I don't think it wasn't that he didn't want to play it as later someone asked for Blind Before I Stop which he wasn't too happy about playing but did. During that song, it was obvious that his voice his changed since they recorded it as he really strained through it. It was a song that Meat himself had written and I'd like to say that the band excelled themselves when they played it but there were so few chords in it to master!
Someone asked if she could go on stage and play the piano for them so they opted for Chuck Berry's Johnny Be Good. Meat told her just to play the piano refrain in the middle but after hearing her intro they realised how excellent she was an she played the whole song. As Kasim (the Musical Director) had to talk her through how they played it, it meant he couldn't sing but it was a brilliant performance!
Meat told the story of Patti's bus kicking episode after her audition for the band and she sang the song she performed at that audition, Darlin'. After that, Meat explained that they'd recorded a duet together so they played I'd Lie for You. During that Meat decided that they were going straight into Rock and Roll Dreams too (he really does like that song!).
There was a twist in the Paradise re-enactment as the record executive was a young boy and Meat allowed the "groper's" wife beside Kasim to stand on stage to keep an eye on things! During the last part of the song, one of Patti's straps of her dress broke and, as Meat moved in, she told him in no uncertain terms to forget any ideas about that!
Meat's voice was fine during Bat Out of Hell tonight and they came back for an encore of All Revved Up. Interestingly they hadn't decided what to play before they arrived on stage as Kasim had to ask Meat what to play before the word spread around the band! For only the second time on the tour, they all lined up for a bow after All Revved Up!
After that much better show, I'm not going to mind the 700 mile drive to Erie, PA tomorrow so much!
He labored the point of what the that is in Anything and the Paradise sketch took too much time to get going. He was real rude to some singers about You Took the Words. Band sounded good again but the lead guitarist lacks Pat Thrall's stage prescence.
Better show (great Musical Director LOL) but next tour, Meat, revert to a normal concert.
