Hard Rock Live

Orlando

Set List

Review

Unfortunately this was one of the more disappointing concerts of the tour as there were only eleven songs and way too much talking.

The concert was held in the 2,000 seater Hard Rock Live Theatre within the Universal Studios theme park.and was totally sold out. They had actually seemed to have jammed in as many seats as they could so some people had a limited view. The audience sat through every song - even Bat Out of Hell and the All Revved Up finale!

After the usual opening, Meat again asked for some lawyer jokes which lead into Lawyers, Guns and Money. People then spoke about Objects in the Rear View Mirror, Paradise by the Dashboard Light and Two Outta Three Ain't Bad but it wasn't until somebody mentioned Left in the Dark that they actually sang another song. This time when he sang it Meat said the "Where did he touch you? How did it feel? Who made the very first move?" ending as he used to in 1996.

After Anything for Love (I'm beginning to hate the sight of that blackboard!) Meat put a lady up on the piano and sang You Took the Words. He called up some radio competition winners to sing on stage and, as has happened before, one of them didn't even know the words! I appreciate that they have to use competition winners as part of the choir (or the radio stations wouldn't publicise the concert) but maybe Meat should remember that it's the fans who actually buy the concert tickets and they know the words to the songs! When Meat decided to get some more people up on stage, he said that anybody who wanted could come up so it ended up with over 50 people on stage!

The lady chosen to be "the straddler" in Paradise tonight had had several drinks and was wearing a very tight dress so that, as Meat remarked, most of the crew were watching from the wings as she tried to mount the guy! Pearl came on and wrapped a towel around her waist but it soon fell off and the guys in my section of the audience soon noticed that she was wearing a thong! The couple were quite passionate tonight and the guy was a real gentleman not to have taken advantage of her, although it may also have been because his wife was siting up on the drums with John watching!

Amongst all the talk, there were a couple of good questions tonight. Someone asked if Patti had any plans to make a solo album and she explained that she was already working on one but she looked a bit embarrassed about being asked about it in front of Meat Loaf. Also someone asked how Todd Rundgren got to be involved in Bat Out of Hell so Meat explained that he was the only producer that him and Jim Steinman could find who understood what they were trying to achieve! Meat then brought Kasim forward and explained that he played bass on Bat Out of Hell and that he was in Utopia with Todd. Meat also finally mentioned (as that was omitted from his book) that it was Moogy Klingman that introduced Todd to Meat - he couldn't remember his surname so Kasim had to tell him!
