15.00 - Meat Loaf's album Couldn't Have Said It Better (on which Kasim Sulton plays bass and sings background vocals) is up 2 places to #14 in the UK Album Charts which were announced today. In the UK Rock Singles chart it has stayed at #11 (it was only in the Singles chart for one week at #31).
14.00 - The E-Bay auction for copies of Quid Pro Quo came to a close yesterday with only one bid (of $16) being cast.
12.45 - A couple of days ago Christopher Morrow made the following post on a mailing list and a messageboard:
"I'm pleased to see Kasim opening all the UK shows!!Nothing against Cyndi Lauper, its just Kasim deserves it!"
The following messages were posted (by Meat Loaf fans):
"That really is good news!! Kasim is and will be light years ahead of the usual opening acts for Meat in the UK! His style may be different from Meat's .. but he's an opening act of some considerable calibre!!"
"That is wonderful news! I hope everyone in the UK enjoys Kasim's show, I will say it adds a lot to the entire evening's entertainment."
"Great news. Kasim was great in July 2002, can't wait to see him again!"
"Agree totally with you there, - he was great. Can't wait to see him in November!"
Saturday 24th May 2003
05.30 - Apparently also playing at the Meat Loaf and Friends All-Star Jam are George Thorogood, Alice Cooper and Travis Tritt so it appears unlikely that Kasim Sulton will also be playing an opening set. Click here and here for more details.
Friday 23rd May 2003
06.15 - Kasim Sulton will be playing a concert with Meat Loaf in Columbus, OH on 26th September. The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.
06.00 - The website link to Randy Flowers' band (that Kasim mention in his message yesterday) is PinchMusic.com. Many thanks to David M. Driskell for finding this link.
Thursday 22nd May 2003
05.30 - Kasim Sulton has posted a message on the messageboard attached to KasimInfo.com. Click here to read it. Although it won't disappear (as it's on my server and I backup the messageboard database each day) it says:
"Sue Saves The Day
Hi All,
Once again, Sue has come to my rescue.
I wish I had an explanation why my messageboard.... the new one that was going to work so well... jumped the shark.
I have none.
Suffice to say, I'm glad Sue took the initiative and put this one in place.
I've been working nonstop since late March.
New songs, new band members and the longest tour since Bat II
are all I've been concentrating on for the past 2 months.
I can tell you the new keyboard / guitar player in the band is from Nashville.
Randy Flowers was reccomended to me by Pat Thrall ( Meats pre Damon Lescot lead guitarist).
After a cursory phone call with him and auditions with a couple other guys, I had a feeling Randy was going to work.
I'd be doing him a disservice by saying he is good. This guy is amazing. Quite handsom to boot.
He has a solo band as well, Pinch.
Look for their website and you can hear some of his music ( I tried putting a link in, but it went to the wrong address).
Renee Cologne has taken over Pearls place in the band.
Another fine musician. Look for her to be playing some guitar and keyboards as well as backing vocal duties during the show.
We are currently in the process of revamping the entire show.
Without giving too much away I can tell you I won't be wearing basic black this time around.
I'll take some rehearsal shots and send them to Sue in return for all her hard work.
I have a few Pushing Red Button CD's to give away but can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.
It's a pretty cool CD.
If anyone has an idea regarding this, let me know. I'm open to suggestions.
There are also a few things happening solo wise that I'll be able to let you in on as they become confirmed.
Again, thanks to Sue along with Jen and Laura as moderators for putting this board together.
Love,
Kasim"
Wednesday 21st May 2003
14.00 - The poll about which Kasim sung song you prefer on the Pushing Red Buttons CD is now closed. After 59 votes Surprise won with 61%.
10.30 - According to a post by a reliable source on a Meat Loaf mailing list, the album Couldn't Have Said It Better (on which Kasim Sulton plays bass and sings background vocals) has gone Gold in both UK and Germany. To go gold in Europe an album has to sell 100,000 copies and (as at 5/18) it has sold 109,000 in UK and 133,000 in Germany. A total of 400,000 copies of the album have been sold so far in Europe with it still to be released in another 9 countries in the continent. 400,000 copies at 23 mentions a copy - that's 9.2 million mentions of Kasim Sulton's name sold!
05.45 - Ususally when there is nothing that I've managed to find for the This Day section on the front page of the site, I add a Quote Of The Day (either about or by Kasim) but from today a Lyric Of The Day will sometimes be posted instead.
Tuesday 20th May 2003
08.30 - I've set up a messageboard for KasimInfo.com. Currently it is a stopgap until the board attached to KasimSulton.com is repaired but it may continue afterwards too. The thing I like about this style of board is that once you are registered, you can receive e-mails about when a reply is posted to a topic even if you have not posted to that topic yourself. The direct link is http://www.kasiminfo.com/Board/index.php.
Monday 19th May 2003
12.45 - It's been a while since it's been mentioned here but Kasim's MP3 page currently has a total of 142 downloads of I Wanna Be What I Am. The site hasn't been updated since 2001 as the blurb says:
"Kasim has announced the tour dates for his "Have Guitar, Will Travel" 2002 Solo Acoustic Tour. Some of which can be found in the Calendar Section here. Kasim's next solo album is expected to be released early next year."
11.30 - Kasim Sulton is mentioned on the front page of the PitchBlack Dream website. In case it's removed from the site at a future date it says:
"Rich Gaglia and Bernadette McCallion can be heard on Pushing Red Buttons debut CD, featuring the vocals of Kasim Sulton. "
11.15 - I feel as though I’ve almost been goaded into posting this link but it has been sent to me by 4 different e-mail addresses now. Click here for some nice comments about Kasim (and some complaints about the latest chat participants). Although hopefully parts of it will disappear at a future date, the main Kasim comments are:
"Kas is a true gem, taking time to share w/ everyone. "
"Do you know Kasim? He is the most sweetest guy "
"We love Kasim's gift he has..his music..and I for one am very thankful that he shares it with us the way that he does"
08.00 - Three new Meat Loaf concerts have been booked in Colorado, New Jersey and Kansas. As Cyndi Lauper is not advertised as opening any of them, hopefully Kasim Sulton will play his opening set. The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.
06.00 - Another copy of Quid Pro Quo is available on E-Bay. Click here for the direct link. 5 copies are available and the highest bid will receive a signed copy. The auction ends on Saturday with no bids placed so far.

Sunday 18th May 2003
13.00 - Meat Loaf's album Couldn't Have Said It Better (on which Kasim Sulton plays bass and sings background vocals) is down 3 places to #16 in the UK Album Charts which were announced today. In the UK Rock Singles chart it is down 4 places from #7 to #11 (which just goes to prove that there are an awful lot of singles currently in the charts that are not rock music!).
12.30 - There is now an online poll to vote for your favorite Kasim Sulton sung track on the Pushing Red Buttons CD. Click here for the direct link. The poll will close on Wednesday.
11.15 - The auction for a vinyl copy of Lights On on E-Bay came to a close recently. Click here for the direct link. It reached $9.50 after 4 bids.
10.45 - The Mirror Of The Soul website has some soundfiles of some of Kasim's appearances on various radio stations in Europe rcently. Click here for the Johnnie Walker show (where Kasim is very audible on Tear Me Down!) and here for the Capital Gold Radio performance of Couldn't Have Said It Better.
09.00 - The new Pushing Red Buttons CD is now available to purchase on CD Baby. Click here for the direct link. Kasim Sulton receives a mention on the page (as he sings lead on the tracks Surprise and Danny's Private Life, plus he plays bass on the latter) and 2 minute clips of both tracks can be downloaded.
Saturday 17th May 2003

06.15 - The Meat Loaf concert that Kasim Sulton was to have been playing on 28th June in Anaheim, CA has been moved to 5th August. Tickets are still valid. Let's just hope that Kasim still gets to open the rearranged concert.

Friday 16th May 2003

06.15 - Sorry about no updates yesterday but my laptop died and is not expected to be resurrected for another ten days! Consequently the site is now being updated on a very old computer (I think it's powered by oil!) that works very slowly and crashes constantly!
Wednesday 14th May 2003

03.15 - Meat Loaf (and therefore Kasim Sulton's) appearance at Party In The Park on 6th July has now been confirmed.
Tuesday 13th May 2003
18.15 - Apparently the MP3 of Surprise that is currently available to download from the Pushing Red Buttons website is an unmastered mix. The album version will be added later this week but, if this is unmastered, the "proper" version will be more than worth purchasing! The album should be available to purchase online later this week.
11.30 - There's a new song sung by Kasim Sulton available to download on the Internet! It's called "Surprise" and is on the new CD by Pushing Red Buttons called Pushing Red Buttons. Click here to download the track. Kasim also plays bass and sings lead on the track Danny's Private Life on the album. The news page of the site says that the CD was due to be released on 1st May. Click here for a nice blurb about Kasim with some photos too. As I spent ages yesterday hunting on the Internet for something about Kasim that no longer exists (as sites seem to keep closing down) the blurb says:
"If anybody would have ever asked "Who would you like most to play in a band with?" the answer would be Kasim Sulton.
I've seen Kasim in concert 40+ times easily and never saw him have a bad night. It's really amazing - I've seen Todd have bad nights but never Kasim.
The first time I ever heard Kasim sing The Martyr on the Oops Wrong Planet by Utopia, I had serious doubts about continuing my own musical career. I just had heard the voice that I wished I had.
Kasim's played with just about everybody - Hall and Oates, Todd Rundgren, Joan Jett, Celine Dion, Mick Jagger, The Indigo Girls, etc.... and currently playing bass and acting as Musical Director for Meat Loaf.
Getting a chance to meet and hang out with Kasim was quite a treat for someone who is a big fan but getting him to play on the new CD was more than musically I could ever have hoped for.
Kasim sings lead on two songs "Danny's Private Life" (which he plays bass too and "Surprise".
I am certainly hoping that Kasim will be kind enough to appear on the next Pushing Red Buttons CD which begins recording in early Fall 2003."

17.45 - The Couldn't Have Said It Better page of the site has been updated with the chart positions for Germany. Meat Loaf's album has dropped from #24 to #27. Unfortunately the single has dropped out of the Top 100.
15.00 - This Google Music Newsgroup link is reportedly one of the oldest Kasim Sulton mentions on the Internet as it claims that it was posted back in 1985 (has the Internet been in existance that long?!):
"The original poster also asked about the whereabouts of Utopia. Last thing I heard, Roger Powell was working on a commercial music synthesis product, while Kasim Sulton was playing keyboards on Cheap Trick's latest tour."
13.00 - Earlier items of this Blog section have been moved to another page (the link is at the bottom of this page) which should make loading faster.

"We are going to break everything down, EVERYTHING. We are going to analyze all of the parts of each song and make this version of The Neverland Express the best band Meat has ever had behind him."
