| Back when this site was called "Kasim Sulton - A Fan's View" there was a section called "Fans Encounters With Kasim" that contained the stories of when fans had met Kasim. As that site is now closed, I thought it an idea to bring some of those across here for people to enjoy again: |
| Robert Henry - 7/1/00 What started out as a disastrous night, turned out to be a memorable one to say the least. My wife Karen and I decided to bring our daughters along with us to the Hobart, IN Power Trio concert. It being an outdoor show, and only about 50 minutes from South Bend, it seemed like the thing to do. When we arrived about 2 & 1/2 hours before start time, we were informed that no kids were allowed in the gate, with or without parents. My nine-year-old Taylor instantly broke into tears, and my twelve-year-old Rachel became despondent. So we regrouped at a near-by pizza place. We decided that we would go back and watch from outside the fence. We set up a blanket directly behind the stage. We were only about 15 feet from behind the drum riser. After enduring one of the worst opening acts I've ever witnessed, a Jeep Cherokee pulled up with Todd, Kasim, and Trey in tow. We waved as they were let through, and Kasim smiled and waved back. That brought the troops spirits up. We watched them mill about the backstage area before they went on. When Todd started into his acoustic songs, Kasim walked by the fence. The girls asked him for his autograph, waving their paper and pens around. He walked right over and asked the girls their names. They told him and he signed them both. He then went on to guess their ages, and nailed them correctly! He then tried guessing the month of their birthdays, and actually came fairly close. He asked us why we didn't come in, and we explained the 21 and over thing. He shook our hands and walked over to where Trey was standing by the stage. Trey and Kasim had a short conversation during Cliche. Trey then set two folding chairs on the stage next to the bass rig. Kasim walked back over to me and asked if I would like to give the girls a treat. He said,"I'd like to sit the girls on stage with me if that's alright." I just about freaked. So we lifted them over, and they sat next to Kasim the whole show. Karen and I were just beaming. He had them stay up there throughout the encore. It was totally surreal. Afterward, he walked them back over, and went on about how sweet the girls are, and that we should be extremely proud. We talked for a little bit more. I explained that Karen and I were on stage for the Tikki Tour, so now the whole family has been up on stage for a Todd show. Kasim said it's a family tradition now. He gave us his personalized guitar picks and said goodbye. The end to an amazing night. As far as Kasim's gesture, it was one of the most generous acts of kindness I have witnessed. The guy is a sweetheart, and I mean that in a very hetero way. We will never forget it. |

Thursday 1st May 2003 12.30 - Kasim Sulton's bass playing on Paradise By The Dashboard Light will be heard on a series of adverts for General Motors according to an article on AdAge.com. There will be 60 and 30 second TV spots for the campaign which runs from today until 22nd July. 11.00 - The Gigs section of the site has been updated as several new Meat Loaf concerts (that hopefully Kasim will be opening!) have been added and a couple have changed their dates. 06.30 - Click here if you missed Meat Loaf's acoustic performance (with Kasim playing his Fender bass and singing background vocals) on The Janice Long Show last night. The link is likely to only be valid for today and the section is about 20 minutes into the show. 06.15 - As the post about photos of Kasim on top of the bus on KasimInfo.com has been top of the messageboard attached to KasimSulton.com for a few days now, I might consider re-opening the board soon!

The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details. 07.00 - Apparently there are problems with KasimSulton.com this morning. The fluffboard is still working but the link on the site isn't working so access it via is http://24.106.61.70/cgi-bin/kasim/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID2&conf=DCConfID1. 06.00 - I couldn't resist adding this about Kasim - it works better on Internet Explorer than Netscape. 05.45 - Some more photos have been added to "The Making Of The CD" photo album on the front page of KasimSulton.com (unfortunately only one photo of Kasim) or click here for the direct link.
![]() When I first set up KasimInfo.com, Jennifer Salyer kindly designed some logos. The one chosen is below but I thought it a shame not to put on the site at least once her hard work 14.00 - Meat Loaf's single Couldn't Have Said It Better has dropped out of the UK Singles Charts after being a new entry at #31 last week. However Meat Loaf has posted that they are "going to re-release the single with a new mix in a few weeks". 11.15 - Meat Loaf's album Couldn't Have Said It Better is a new entry at #4 in the UK Album Charts - nice to have Kasim back in the Top 5 in a UK chart! 11.00 - Meat Loaf's single Couldn't Have Said It Better has dropped from #1 to #2 in the UK Rock Charts. 10.15 - The Gigs section of the site has been updated. 07.45 - On Wednesday 16th April Kasim Sulton recorded a short acoustic set as part of Meat Loaf's band for Capital Gold. Apparently this was broadcast last Friday (despite no mention being made of it on their website). Thankfully there are plans to put a copy of it on some websites so when they are added, a link will be put on KasimInfo.com.
![]() The original KasimInfo.com logo 16.00 - Click here for an 11 second clip of Kasim with Meat Loaf's band going through their (supposed) pre-show routine. 09.15 - Click here for photos and video clips of Kasim Sulton singing on top of a bus yesterday afternoon. 02.30 - There is now some doubt about whether Kasim Sulton will be playing the Muskegon Summer Celebration Festival (with Meat Loaf) on 4th July or the Cleveland concert (which had not been confirmed) as Meat Loaf has said that he will be playing Party In The Park (a massive one day pop festival in UK) with a promo concert in Plymouth, England the day before. More details will be added to the site as soon as they are known.
![]() A very brief shot of Kasim Sulton on the ITV news in London last night (Unfortunately I was shown for about the same amount of time as he was!) 19.00 - Click here for a 15 second video clip of Kasim singing Couldn't Have Said It Better (and mouthing that he was soaking wet!) on top of a London bus this afternoon! More clips and photos of this event will be added to the site tomorrow. 09.00 - Click here for a photo by Sven of Kasim at the Amsterdam concert. 08.00 - Meat Loaf has said to keep this quiet but if anyone is in London this afternoon and would like to see Kasim on top of a bus, click here. 07.15 - Kasim Sulton has sent a message to his mailing list stating that he will be opening for Meat Loaf on the dates that Cindi Lauper is not playing! 06.45 - The article that mentions Kasim Sulton (below) is now online. Click here for the direct link.
