Thursday 3rd April 2003
12.45 - There's a new item on the front page of KasimSulton.com from Kasim which says:
"WE DID IT!!! Thank you everyone who voted for Quid Pro Quo in Kweevac's CD of the Year competition! I can't begin to express my gratitude to all of you that took the time to vote. It's time for a little celebration, don't you think?
Love Always,
Kasim
"
Hopefully Kasim knows something that we don't and he's won the CD Of The Year Award (which is due to be announced in June) as well as Kweevak's Viewer's Choice Award!
11.00 - I've received an e-mail from someone asking if Quid Pro Quo did actually win the Kweevak.com 2003 Viewers Choice Award as Robert Kramer has this message on his website:
"I AM THIS Wins Kweevak's 2003 Viewers Choice Award
Kweevak, one of the premiere music websites online just announced Robert Kramer's upcoming album "I AM THIS" has just won in the top 25 of Kweevak's 2003 Viewers Choice Awards."

It seems that all 26 albums listed are winners but that Kasim's album Quid Pro Quo received the highest number of votes. The comment on the front page of Kweevak.com confirms that fact as they state "Congratualtions to Kasim Sulton of Utopia and Meat Loaf fame for taking the top-spot!".
10.30 - The Couldn't Have Said It Better page of the site has been updated with details of Kasim Sulton's massive contribution to the album.
04.30 - This morning I received a copy from Germany of Meat Loaf's new album Couldn't Have Said It Better and Kasim Sulton receives a staggering TWENTY THREE mentions on the liner notes! He only receives 15 mentions on the liner notes of Quid Pro Quo and that includes the ones in the photos!

Wednesday 2nd April 2003
13.00 - Another new Meat Loaf concert has been added in UK - Sheffield on 29th November. The Gigs section of the site has been updated.
09.45 - The News section of the site has been updated.
09.30 - Despite the success of the Rolling Stone magazine April Fools Trick last year, this year I opted for just a small comment on the front page of the site.

Tuesday 1st April 2003
18.15 - There is now a mention of Kasim Sulton on the front page of Kweevak.com. As it will disappear at some point, it says:
"Kweevak CD Of The Year: Viewer's Choice Winners
The 2003 "Viewer's Choice Awards" were presented to the top-25 (actually 26 this year as there was a 4-way tie for 23rd place) winners as chosen by visitors to the Kweevak's Tracks website.
Congratualtions to Kasim Sulton of Utopia and Meat Loaf fame for taking the top-spot! A total of 256 CDs were nominated to be voted on and a total of 5929 votes were cast – making this our best year ever!!!
"
12.00 - Apparently "the award winning album Quid Pro Quo" received just over 12% of the 5,929 votes that were cast for the 256 albums at Kweevak.com!
07.30 - Quid Pro Quo has won the Kweevak.com People's Choice Award!! Out of the 256 albums nominated, Quid Pro Quo received the highest number of votes!

Monday 31st March 2003
12.15 - MLUKFC.com have posted a scan of part of the liner notes for the new Meat Loaf album Couldn't Have Said It Better (which currently is only available in continental Europe). Kasim receives two mentions in the part posted: as the first person listed in the background vocals and as being endorsed by Spector Basses, Euphonic Audio and CLIXIR Bass Strings.
11.45 - The News section of the site has been updated.
08.45 - The earlier items from this page have been moved to another page (the link is at the bottom of this page) so that it should load faster.
07.00 - It's been mentioned here before but these photos by Frank Ciapanna are well worth another look.
06.45 - We're back to 42 pages of the messageboard attached to KasimSulton.com.
05.00 - On the (few) days like today that there are no items for the "On This Day...." section on the front page of the site, a "Quote Of The Day" will be added instead.

Sunday 30th March 2003
17.45 - Although he doesn't mention Kasim by name, Danny O'Connor's review of the Meat Loaf concert in Hyde Park, London last Summer states that "The bass player looked like he was wearing his instrument as a bow tie"! The audio of the review also blames "the bass player" for the length of Bat Out Of Hell!
17.15 - Is it just me or do other people sometime look at the "Active Users" page on the messageboard attached to KasimSulton.com and there is always someone looking at some totally obscure post? I read "Guest is viewing topic New Kasim Sulton gig" and I get excited, only to discover that it is thread 253 from a year ago and we're up to thread 758! Anyway, it appears that the new changes to the board are already underway as several pages of old threads have been removed (there were about 40 pages but currently there are only 16).
17.00 - The Couldn't Have Said It Better page of the site has been updated as there is a "hidden" track on the album.
16.30 - Just to clarify, although we're all hoping he will, nowhere has it been posted or even suggested that Kasim will again be opening the concerts for Meat Loaf. The "Meat Loaf and Friends Just Havin' Fun ...." Tours were totally different to the Couldn't Have Said It Better World Tour which is to promote an album.
16.15 - Tomorrow Kasim Sulton will be flying to Cologne, Germany to mix the live show that he performed with Meat Loaf on 27th January. This show will be broadcast on WDR Radio in Germany sometime in the future.
16.00 - KasimInfo.com is now fully open again. As previously explained the KasimInfo.com Site Index is at the bottom of each page. If any of the links do not work correctly, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know, however any previous links on this page may be incorrect and any that you have bookmarked.

Saturday 29th March 2003
06.45 - Pollstar.com now list a Meat Loaf concert for 25th July in Universal City, CA. The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.

Friday 28th March 2003
18.30 - This page on a Glen Burtnik website has two versions of .Heaven Help The Child, one is a demo that is sung by Glen Burtnik and the other is one of the versions that Kasim recorded for Quid Pro Quo (there are additional sounds of children playing on this recording but not the coin being dropped which is on yet another version - I wonder how many versions he recorded of all the tracks?!!). What I found most interesting is that this site states that Kasim changed the lyrics. The main changes are that Kasim sings “Outside the window is a pale colored moon” and Glen sings “Outside the window dogs howl at the moon” and in the third verse Kasim sings “She needs someone to hold her every day” but Glen sings “She needs someone to wake her every day”. Kasim also sings the line “Somebody who will kiss her tears away” in the third verse and the line “Someone to take her hand and lead the way” in the fifth verse, whereas Glen has them the other way round.
12.15 - The more astute viewers of this site will have noticed that an IFrame has been added at the bottom of some of the pages. As well as some of the links changing on Sunday, the frames layout will also be removed which will mean that there is more visible space on the pages. IFrames can be viewed by Internet Explorer version 4 and above and Netscape version 6 and above. If your browser can not view an IFrame some text will appear that gives the link to the KasimInfo.com Site Index. As this site is over 2,000 pages large, I do not have the time (or the enthusiasm!) to add IFrames to all the old pages but anybody who wanders back into Kasim's pre-Quid Pro Quo era of the site will have already seen the IFrames on the more recent pages. As people view the site at different resolutions and at different text sizes, I've made the IFrames large enough to fit all the text, plus extra space has been allowed as there will be several new sections of KasimInfo.com added over the next months.
09.45 - The Couldn't Have Said It Better page of the site has been updated with a link to purchase the album from Germany as it will be available there at least a week earlier than from UK.

Thursday 27th March 2003
14.45 - Although not confirmed during the radio interview, it appears that the release of Meat Loaf's new album has been delayed in UK for a week. The Couldn't Have Said It Better page of the site has been updated.
07.45 - According to posts this morning on several Meat Loaf mailing lists it appears that the release of his new album Couldn't Have Said It Better has been delayed in UK. However there is some doubt as to whether it will be released on 7th or 14th April as different online ordering sites hve different dates. As Meat Loaf is on national radio in UK later today, the Couldn't Have Said It Better page of this site will not be changed until after that as hopefully at least he knows what's going on!

Wednesday 26th March 2003
15.00 - Some photos of Kasim Sulton playing as part of The Pat Travers Band in Springfield, VA has been added to the Photos section of the site or click here for the direct link. Many thanks to Jennifer Salyer for the photos on the page.
11.45 - As a lot of the rest of Kasim's year will be taken up with the promotion of it, a new page about the Meat Loaf album Couldn't Have Said It Better has been added to the site.
09.15 - Just a bit of advance warning that most of KasimInfo.com will be closed for a few hours this coming Sunday (or if not closed some of the links will be a bit messed up during those hours) as the current frames will be removed from the site. Of course if Kasim chooses those hours to announce his 40 date arena tour of UK (that I'm forever hoping for), then that will still be added to the site as the front page will be kept open (but with no links).
06.45 - Recently on a Meat Loaf mailing list there was a discussion about opening acts at Meat Loaf concerts. Some of the posts contained the following Kasim Sulton mentions:
"I'd have preferred the concert to follow the format in the US, where Kasim and Patti opened .. because they're class. In the UK we still had some unknown band opening before Kasim and Patti came out .. and it just cut into the time available for them .. which I thought a shame .."
"personally I'd like to see Kasim and Patti opening for all his shows .. perfect really .. they're excellent, and Meat fans will love hearing them. Seems an ideal way to warm up the audience .. as if we really needed warming up anyway! .. but at least they're class A1 !!"
"I think Kasim sang one number, and Patti two. Most of the people around me didn't know who either of them were, but commented on how good they were, and how they'd have liked to hear more from them rather than the opening band."
"My point was that for many shows last year Kasim and Patti WERE the opening act, and a damn good one. The shows didn't need any other bands to open imo, and I would like to see Kasim and Patti opening all Meat's shows.."
"Kasim and Patti were awesome but it was somewhat spoiled by the fact that most of the crowd didnt really seem to know who they were."
Many thanks to Caryl Burton for permission to repeat a lot of the comments above that were hers.
05.45 - The "news flash" about Kasim Sulton continuing to be "an active and very important member of the [Meat Loaf's] band" is currently on the front page of the website for the official Meat Loaf fan club. (As it's not phrased very well, I'm choosing not to repeat it here as it will be removed from the site soon.)
05.30 - Did you all miss the site not being updated for the past week?!! Yesterday KasimInfo.com had almost 1,000 hits!

Tuesday 25th March 2003
17.30 - Click here for a great photo of Kasim with Pat Travers and Sandy Gennaro at PatTravers.com.
14.30 - Some photos of Kasim Sulton playing as part of The Pat Travers Band in Morristown, NJ has been added to the Photos section of the site or click here for the direct link. Many thanks to Gary "Goat" Goveia for the photos on the page.
13.45 - Meat Loaf's management company have just said that the rumors of Kasim leaving his band are untrue and that Kasim "is still an active and very important member of the band"!
10.45 - There were some great Kasim Sulton mentions on the messageboard attached to PatTravers.com. Click here to view them but, as they will disappear in time, the main ones say:
"The show in Springfield, VA was fun. Kasim was all smiles and grins and thumped right through all the tunes. There were some flubs here and there but nothing extreme. For a first time gig from this group it was really done well and was a treat to see. All three of them seemed like they really enjoyed playing together. The show was a bit different from the tightly structured performances of Pat's I have seen in the past, with this one being much looser and jam-like. You have to understand Kasim, Sandy and Pat had never played together prior to this show and this was their only gig together from what I was told. The only thing Sandy and Kasim had was a tape Pat gave them to learn the tunes. So considering that, it went pretty well and I am sure many in the audience never even noticed. Sandy and Kasim are great players and really personable guys."
"First of all, the Jaxx show in Springfield featuring Sandy Gennaro and Kasem Sultan was fantastic. As much as I missed seeing (and hearing) Eric and Rick, Sandy and Kasim did an amazing job, and we were treated to a few change-ups on the setlist. After the show, all three of them did the meet'n'greet, and I had the pleasure of chatting briefly with both Sandy and Kasim, both of whom were extremely friendly and very appreciative of the praise I heaped upon them and their performances."
"Kasim is very relaxed and fits right in. He has kind of a Rick Navarro style, but a little more technical like Mars. Or at least that's how I see it. Once again Pat surrounded himself with some talented musicians!"
Many thanks to Jennifer Salyer for forwarding this link.
09.15 - Jodes Serner (who wrote the review of Quid Pro Quo for RawFeedOnline) has re-vamped it slightly for 411mania.com. Once again he gives it 8 marks out of 10!
08.30 - Another Meat Loaf gig in US has been found on the Internet. Although it has not yet been officially confirmed, tickets go on sale on 5th April. It is at the Tower City Amphitheatre in Cleveland, Ohio on 8th July. The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.
07.30 - Meat Loaf (who posts under the name Fire Ball) made a post on the messageboard attached to MLUKFC.com to say that more concert dates will be added for UK, plus some for Ireland, Holland, Belgium and Sweden. He then says that the first leg of the tour will be 60 shows in US, followed by 32 in Europe and then more in 2004 in Europe. “About 150 total shows on this tour, maybe a few more going back to South Africa and the Far East. No World Tour For Bat III, but we will do some shows but just a very few. Maybe 40 Total.” Please note however that everything is subject to change.
07.15 - Currently there are rumors circulating that Kasim is no longer working for Meat Loaf (due to Meat Loaf using James Michael to play bass in the video of Couldn’t Have Said It Better). Until that is officially confirmed, details of Meat Loaf’s gigs will still be added to this site on the assumption that Kasim is still playing with him.
07.00 - Kasim Sulton made a post to the messageboard attached to KasimSulton.com on Thursday. As it will disappear soon, it said:
"Hi All,
I got a call from the Grand Poobah the other day. He has informed me that there will be a new and much improved Message Board installed here over the next few days.
Now, this wouldn't be much of a big deal but it's going to require everyone who wants to participate in posting to RE-REGISTER.
I know, I know, it's a bit of a hassle but GP has assured me it's going to be well worth the few minutes it will take to type in your info again.
Your mailing info will not change, only message board related info.
Kasim"

Once the new board is open, a new feature will also be added to KasimInfo.com.
06.30 - The release of Meat Loaf’s new album Couldn’t Have Said It Better (on which Kasim Sulton plays bass and sings background vocals) has been brought forward in UK to 31st March (from 5th May). It will be released on Mercury Records in UK. The album is still listed for a May release in Australia, New Zealand and the Far East, plus August in US, Canada and South America. The release date for the single Couldn’t Have Said It Better (on which Kasim plays bass and sings background vocals) is still set as 21st April all over Europe. Meat Loaf’s first single from the album called Did I Say That? (on which Kasim also played bass and sang background vocals) was released in Germany only and charted for six weeks (18, 40, 28, 56, 73, 84).
06.00 - The front page of the site has had a revamp. Although often sites use an off-the-shelf template for their main pages (which look more professional), I decided to design my own as KasimInfo.com is updated more frequently that most and I need something that is easy to maintain. As I assume that most people will access the site via the front page, the frequent changes there will not be mentioned on this Blog page.
