Monday 24th March 2003
19.15 - I’m sorry about there being no updates on this site for the past week but I moved house so most of my free time was spent packing and then unpacking boxes - I only got my main computer set up last night! Also, not much occurred in KasimWorld. The (ab)normal number of site updates which you are all so used to will be resumed tomorrow…..!
Monday 17th March 2003
18.45 - There's a new message from Kasim on the front page of KasimSulton.com. It appears that whoever is organizing the gig at Jaxx on Saturday is changing their minds more than the Italians as first it was on, then it was off and now the good news is that it's back on again! (The Gigs section of this site has been updated with the details.) Also Kasim writes about the possibility of a live DVD and some solo gigs!
08.15 - The dates for the two Westbury Music Fair concerts that Kasim will be playing with Meat Loaf have been confirmed as Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th August. The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.
Friday 14th March 2003
18.15 - The main page of the Sphere Sound Records website now has the title "Quid Pro Bowl" (as it's about sport!). Previously it was "Quid Pro Snow".
09.30 - Unfortunately it's some bad news as both the Jaxx, Springfield, VA and BBKings, New York gigs that Kasim Sulton was to have played as part of The Pat Travers Band have been cancelled. If you want to see Kasim with the band, currently the only chance is TONIGHT!
08.15 - Two more dates have been added to the Meat Loaf Couldn't Have Said It Better World Tour schedule, in the US this time. They are Mountain Winery, Saratoga, CA on 22nd June and another gig for the Westbury Music Fair. Westbury, NY (but the actual date has not yet been confirmed). The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.
07.30 - Normally I'm not a big fan of those "carry on the song titles games" but this one now includes The One Sure Thing!
Wednesday 12th March 2003
10.45 - The aforementioned ClassicRockRevisited.com review of Quid Pro Quo says that it is by Ron Bozich. However his e-mail address is not available on the website but it does say "Email your response to this review to me here! We would love to hear from you!" with a link to Jeb Wright's e-mail addy.
08.30 - In the interests of fair reporting ClassicRockRevisited.com has a not brilliant review of Quid Pro Quo although the guy does give it 3 out of 5 which the site rates as "Good Album". As I hope that it will disappear at a future date,it has not been repeated below.
07.45 - Two more Meat Loaf concerts in UK have been "discovered":
11/11 - NEC Arena, Birmingham
11/18 - Wembley Arena, London
The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.
Tuesday 11th March 2003
18.00 - Two more concerts in UK have been added to the Couldn't Have Said It Better 2003 World Tour:
11/10 - NEC Arena, Birmingham
11/25 - Brighton Centre, Brighton
Tickets for all eight of the announced UK concerts go on sale tomorrow. The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.
12.30 - Three more concerts (all in England) for Kasim Sulton playing with Meat Loaf have been added:
11/13 - Manchester Evening News Arena, Manchester
11/17 - Wembley Arena, London
11/22 - Sheffield Arena, Sheffield
The Gigs section of the site has been updated with the details.
11.00 - According to a post on the messageboard attached to PatTravers.com the gig that Kasim was playing as part of the band on 21st March in Norfolk, VA has been cancelled. However the Jaxx, Springfield, VA gig (that was in doubt) has now been confirmed. The Gigs section of the site has been updated.
Monday 10th March 2003
18.15 - There have been a couple of posts about Kasim's participation (or not) in the video for the new Meat Loaf single Couldn't Have Said It Better. Click here to read about the shoot on James Michael's website and here to read a post on the MLUKFC.com website. Also the following was posted on a Meat Loaf mailing list:
"OK we've heard of "Where's Waldo?," let's just hope that we wont be playing "Where's Kasim?" when the video airs. Saw this over on James Michael's website. Sounds like it was a cool and big day and from all indications the majority, if not all, of the band was in the video as well. But i gotta wonder, if James played bass, then what did Kasim do? I sure as heck hope he was somewhere in the video too!"
13.30 - The Gigs section of the site has been updated.
07.30 - TicketMaster and various venues are listing dates for Meat Loaf concerts in UK with some going on sale this week. The ones found so far are:
15th November - Cardiff International Arena, Cardiff, Wales
21st November - SECC Arena, Glasgow, Scotland
24th November - Telewest Arena, Newcastle, England
The Gigs section of the site will be updated later today with ticketing and venue details.
02.45 - Some new concerts have been added to the Meat Loaf tour. Members of the KasimSulton Mailing List were notified about them yesterday but they are:
27th June - San Diego County Fair, San Diego, CA
9th July - Common Ground Music Festival, Lansing, MI
25th August - Westbury Music Fair, Westbury, NY
7th September - Wolf Trap, Vienna, NY
The Gigs section of the site will be updated later today with ticketing and venue details.
02.30 - Loads of updates today starting with the good news that the Quid Pro Quo banner (pictured below) that went missing from the merchandise stand at the Meat Loaf concert in Cleveland, Ohio in November has been recovered.....well, found! This approx. 2 foot square sign was the main POS for Kasim's CDs and used to attract people's eyes so they would go over and purchase the album. The FBI have been called off the case!
Recovered:

Friday 7th March 2003
18.00 - Apparently for the gigs that Kasim will be playing, The Pat Travers Band will consist of Pat Travers on guitar, Kasim Sulton on bass and Sandy Genaro on drums.
17.45 - Why is it that after 43 votes, Kasim Sulton still only has an average rating of 3.67 out of 5 on the Singer / Songwriter Directory website?
15.00 - So much for my idea of having a day off from updating the site! Another Meat Loaf gig has been discovered on the Internet! It's on Saturday 23rd August at Meadowbrook Farm, Gilford, New Hampshire. It's listed as "The Farewell Tour" (hopefully using Kasim's idea of "every tour being a farewell tour.....until the next one!"). Click here for more details (however the "other info" section of that page is about the tour last Summer!). Tickets go on sale next Saturday. Many thanks to Mike Birch for forwarding the info.
Thursday 6th March 2003
11.45 - The set list and a review of the BBC taping has been added to the Gigs section of the site or click here for the direct link. Many thanks to Jennifer Salyer for providing these.
07.45 - The Gigs section of the site has been updated.
07.00 - Meat Loaf is listed as appearing at the 4th July Muskegon Summer Celebration in Muskegon, Michigan. Please note that currently this has not yet been confirmed by Meat Loaf's management company but they are notoriously late at confirming dates - often, as in this case, way after the tickets have already gone on sale. Many thanks to David M. Driskell for finding this concert.
Wednesday 5th March 2003
17.45 - The Gigs section of the site has been updated.
17.15 - The songs performed last night at the BBC taping were:
Life is a Lemon
Mercury Blues
All Revved Up
Couldn't Have Said It Better (as a "trilet")
Bat Out Of Hell (as a duet)
Hound Dog (mostly by Russell Watson and the band)
You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth
Johnny Be Good
Many thanks to Jennifer Salyer for providing the set list.
17.00 - Once again, THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED, but it is known that Meat Loaf will be filming the video for his next single Couldn't Have Said It Better in Los Angeles on Friday. It was posted on the official James Michael website (he wrote the song) that Meat has asked him to play guitar in the video and now the official Paul Crook website states that he also has been asked to appear in the video. Fingers crossed that Kasim has been asked too!
14.30 - There have been a few nice comments about Kasim on the messageboard attached to PatTravers.com. As they may disappear in time (and there are loads of posts to plough through), the main ones are:
"Kasim Sulton is going to be playing bass at the shows Sandy Gennaro is playing on the east coast Pat Travers dates. I had never heard of him but looked up his credits. This guy has played with a heck of a lot of big names! Should be exctiting."
"Wow, Kasim playing with Gennaro & Pat Travers? Now why in the heck couldn't we have gotten that line up in Seattle if we couldn't have Eric & Rick? You East Coasters are gonna get rocked with this line-up! I'd love to catch those shows!"
"Kasim Sulton - Great musician... he's played with Todd Rundgren for many years. Good singer, multi-instrumentalist. Good for Pat."
14.15 - Jeff Gauss has posted to several boards about Kasim playing the gigs with Pat Travers. Click here to view one of the posts.
11.45 - According to PatTravers.com an extra gig has been added for Sunday 23rd March at BB Kings in New York. Kasim Sulton said at his chat on Sunday that he was only playing three gigs "so far". However Pat's usual bassist is playing in Florida on 21st and 22nd March and then again on 28th so it is quite likely that Kasim will be playing this gig too!
06.45 - Apparently at the BBC taping last night, although only two songs were recorded for transmission, they actually performed several songs - "it was a mini concert" was how it ws described to me. Hopefully more details will be added soon.
Tuesday 4th March 2003
Quid Pro Quo was released six months ago today!
18.00 - As a few people have written to ask, according to the Kweevak.com website, the winners of the awards will be annnounced in April.
12.45 - Some sad news as the website Couldn'tHaveSaidItBetterMyself.com (formerly Testify.com) has closed. During the summer this site was one of the most up-to-date Meat Loaf related sites. Unfortunately to keep a website really current takes a lot of time and effort and the webmaster is now unable to devote the amount required.
12.30 - Yesterday Kasim Sulton was mentioned several times on a Jim Steinman mailing list about who produced a "radio edit" version of the song A Kiss Is A Terrible Thing To Waste. Eventually they decided that it was Kasim Sulton, Meat Loaf, Andrew Lloyd Webber and possibly Jim Steinman too!
The cover of Quid Pro Quo (which was released 6 months ago today)
Monday 3rd March 2003
07.00 - The News section of the site has been updated.

The ending part of the online chat last night.
Sunday 2nd March 2003
22.15 - Hopefully the gigs will soon be listed on KasimSulton.com but it seems likely that, according to PatTravers.com, the gigs that Kasim will be playing with him are:
03/14/03 Morristown NJ
03/21/03 Norfolk VA
03/22/03 Springfield VA - Jaxx
22.00 - A synopsis of the chat earlier this evening has been added to the Gigs section of the site.
14.15 - Details of the TV recording on Tuesday have been added to the Gigs section of the site.
13.30 - The Gigs section of the site has been updated.
11.45 - As there seems to be some confusion over the various Yahoo mailing lists, I thought that I would list and describe the main Kasim ones:
Kasim - the original mailing list about Kasim Sulton. It was set up in June 1998 by Britt and for a long time was the only list about Kasim. Sadly people rarely post on it nowadays.
KasimSulton - the only list on the whole of the Internet that is exclusively about Kasim Sulton. It is an announcement only list that I set up in July 1999. Messages are only sent when there is news about Kasim or major new sections are added to KasimInfo.com.
KasimSulton2 - the list where the online chats are held. Originally I set this list up in January 2000 (when some trolls had descended on the original Kasim list) with the rule that all posts had to be about Kasim. With the new moderators that rule has been relaxed so consequently there are sometimes posts about other things too.
Kasim who? - the list set up to help promote Kasim and his career. Originally it was formed due to his then gig-booker not getting him much publicty but current projects are attempting to get more recognition for Quid Pro Quo.
08.30 - The following advertisement for the online chat tonight was posted to a few mailing lists by David M. Driskell and is one of the best descriptions I've read recently of Kasim:
"Internationally known for his amazing musical style and respected in the
industry for his exquisite professionalism and flare for excellence,
Kasim Sulton made his mark on the world of rock-and-roll as the bass
player on the record breaking Meat Loaf album Bat Out Of Hell. Kasim has
been a key element in many projects from the musical mastermind Jim
Steinman, including much studio work that has never seen the light of
day. Kasim Sulton can be heard on the worldwide, chart topping Celine
Dion classic, It's All Coming Back To Me Now. Fans from all over the
world remember Kasim Sulton as a member of Todd Rundgren's Utopia, as
well as Kasim having been a member of Joan Jett's Blackhearts. Kasim has
been heard performing with a wide variety of musical entertainment, to
include Hall & Oates, Cherry Vanilla, Bon Jovi and Cheap Trick. Now,
all of the excitement and all of the passion of this, not only
remarkable musician, but also great individual is coming to your
computer monitor. Kasim Sulton will be present for a LIVE Internet chat
on Sunday, March 2, 2003 at 8:00 P.M., Eastern Time. You will not want
to miss this unique opportunity to chat with Kasim Sulton, have him
answer your questions, and maybe find out what is going with his life.
Kasim has some incredible stories from his early career that he
oftentimes shares during his chat sessions -- they are not to be missed.
You can chat with Kasim and many of his other fans in the KasimSulton2
Yahoogroup Chat Room. You must be a member of the group to chat, but it
is free, easy, and a very small effort for this amazing opportunity.
Kasim Sulton can be seen in various appearances with Meat Loaf and The
Neverland Express all throughout the rest of this year, and on into next
year. Kasim is acting as bass player and musical director for the
promotional appearances for the upcoming Meat Loaf album Couldn't Have
Said It Better. "

Another of David M. Driskell's great chat logos from The Miirror Of The Soul website. However, please note that the chat tonight is in the KasimSulton2 chatroom.
Saturday 1st March 2003
06.30 - Kasim Sulton sent a message to his mailing list about the online chat tomorrow but please note that it is being held in the Yahoo Kasim Sulton2 chatroom or click here for the direct link.
06.00 - The voting has now finished on Kweevak.com so it's just a case of crossing our fingers! Many thanks to Laura England, Rita Kopca, Jennifer Salyer and Sandi Daae for helping me with my list (we managed to vote over 500 times between us) and to everyone else who voted constantly for Quid Pro Quo.
Friday 28th February 2003
The final day to vote for Quid Pro Quo in the Kweevak.com poll
18.00 - A message was sent to a few Meat Loaf mailing lists that he will be performing this coming Tuesday (03/04) at The Vanderbilt Theatre, Long Island, New York with opera singer Russell Watson. This show is being recorded for the BBC in UK. The doors open at 7.30pm and seats are allocated on a first come basis. It is not known yet whether or not Kasim Sulton and the rest of the band will be playing.
17.00 - The first US concert for Kasim Sulton with Meat Loaf of the 2003 tour has been found on the Internet! It's on 2nd July at Mystic Lake Celebrity Palace, Prior Lake, MN and tickets go on sale on 7th March. Click here for more details.
14.15 - The Forgotten But Not Gone website has a mass of old Todd Rundgren and Utopia stuff on it including this page of posters and handbills - one of the most interesting is the one for "Friday May 9th 198?" as Kasim's name is written as Kasim A. Sulton.
14.00 - A new page has been added to the site called Sue's Stuff. Although the link is in the index above changes to the page will not be posted in this Blog as not all items on the page will be about Kasim.
06.00 - Just a reminder that we only have today to vote for Quid Pro Quo in the Kweevak.com People's Choice Awards.
Thursday 27th February 2003
ONLY 2 days left to vote for Quid Pro Quo in the Kweevak.com poll
16.00 - It's back down the German charts again for the Meat Loaf single Did I Say That? as it has fallen 28 places from 28 to 56. (The official charts only list the top 50 so you'll have to take my word for it!) The single's chart history was 18...40...28...56.
06.30 - Just a reminder that we only have today and tomorrow to vote for Quid Pro Quo in the Kweevak.com People's Choice Awards. If we all vote say five times each day, we can all give Kasim another ten votes each! If you have already run out of e-mail addresses, please write to SueW@KasimInfo.com as I've set up more than I can use without having some eliminated!
Tuesday 25th February 2003
ONLY 4 days left to vote for Quid Pro Quo in the Kweevak.com poll
13.45 - Jeff Gauss has some shows (including some featuring Kasim) available to trade. Click here for the list but further down the post are some interesting comments about Kasim and Todd Rundgren's inclusion of It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference and their tour names.
13.30 - There have been some interesting posts on a Kasim Sulton mailing list about people's "Kasim moments". The best are messages 1718, 1719, 1720, 1724 and 1733. You do not have to be a member of the list to read the messages.
11.30 - The Gigs section of the site has been updated.
11.15 - The auction for the batch of 16 albums including Kasim is available yet again on E-Bay! The opening bid has been reduced by another dollar to $6.99. The auction ends on 1st March and currently there are no bids.
10.45 - To correct my omission of yesterday - the video of Kasim Sulton on The Letterman Show on Jennifer Salyer's Meat Loaf Multi Media website is in the "more video" link or click here to access it directly.

There was a news item ysterday that Badly Drawn Boy filmed a video of him busking in London. He only made £1.30 (about $2) in 90 minutes but it reminded me of the above photo of Kasim busking in Antwerp.
