14.30 - Thanks too to Kasim Sulton for mentioning KasimInfo.com on his radio interview yesterday!
14.15 - The date of Kasim Sulton's solo gig at The Bitter End has changed again! It is now on Saturday 28th September. Kasim was originally booked for 27th September but this was one of The Bitter End's poetry nights so it was moved to 2nd November. As Carley's Bar and Grill is now closing down, Kasim's date at The Bitter End has been moved to 28th September. Many thanks to Kasim Sulton for forwarding this info.
02.00 - The News section of the site has been updated.
07/17/02
17.45 - SandiDaae has moved, revamped and renamed her Kasim Sulton website! It's now called KasimWeb.com (or KW.com in Kasim-ese).
11.15 - The News section of the site has been updated.
02.30 - Kasim sent a message to his mailing list about possibly opening for Meat Loaf again if he plays some more concerts this winter as may be happening and about the music on the front page of Kasim Sulton.com.
02.00 - It's only three days before Sheboygan and the line-up has finally been announced in a press release! Click here to read it and the main Kasim mentions are:
"On Saturday, at 12 p.m., will be an acoustic performance by singer-songwriter
Kasim Sulton. Sulton is stepping into the spotlight with a new CD, Quid Pro Quo, and solo tour of select U.S. cities beginning in September. A highly coveted sideman, Sulton is recognized and respected the world over for his work with other artists, including Todd Rundgren and Utopia, Meat Loaf, Joan Jett, Hall & Oates, Patti Smith, Patty Smyth, Mick Jagger and Celine Dion to name just a few. His level of involvement has ranged from playing bass, keyboards and guitar, to adding vocal harmonies, singing lead, and contributing as a songwriter, to producing entire albums, as he did with the Meat Loaf VH-1 Storytellers CD, released in 2000. There isn't much he hasn't done.
Sulton has performed with such groups as the progressive rock band, Utopia,
which produced more than nine releases between 1977 and 1986. On the 1980
pop release "Aventures in Utopia," he wrote and sang the band's only top 30
hit. "Set me Free." As one of the most in-demand players in the business, Sulton will still answer the call when asked to perform with other artists; so don't be
surprised to see him onstage from time to time with Meat Loaf, Tommy James &
the Shondells, or any other artist lucky enough to enlist his talents to enrich their performances. But after years of playing with others, Kasim Sulton is finally giving his own music the center stage it truly deserves."

21.15 - The Gigs section of the site has been updated to include all the gigs that Kasim Sulton has played in 2002.
18.15 - Kasim Sulton FINALLY(!) gets a mention on the John Michael Kohler Arts Center website (where his solo gig will be next Saturday). Click here to read the press release - the Kasim Sulton part is:
"Free live performances by nationally recognized musicians additionally draw adults and children—approximately 20,000—to the Arts Center grounds. This year's lineup features acclaimed singer/songwriter of rich pop ballads Kasim Sulton, recognized and respected the world over for his work with artists such as Meat Loaf, Mick Jagger, and Celine Dion; "

"Fall 2002 will see the release of the latest CD from Kasim Sulton, Quid Pro Quo, CD 109 on Sphere Sound® Records. I am proud to welcome Mr. Sulton to our family of historic releases. I can tell you that once you see and hear Quid Pro Quo, you'll know it has been worth the wait. I do appreciate your patience!"
Please note that although that says "Fall", the News page on Sphere Sound Records still gives the release date as "late August". Many thanks to Cindi DeCotis for this info.

19.15 - TRBazaar.com has a CD available to purchase called Todd Rundgren And His Friends. Apparently producer Billy Sherwood took the original tracks and has added additional instruments and vocals with musical appearances by Vivian Campbell (of Def Leppard), Edgar Winter, Tony Levin, Steve Lukather (of Toto) and more. This is what one fan had to say on a Todd Rundgren mailing list today:
"On the song Mated, Billy Sherwood isolated Kasim's background vocal for the song, so you get to hear only Kasim doing the background bits in the song without Roger and Willie's other harmony parts. So there's a cool vocal call and response thing happening with Todd and Kasim."
18.45 - There are a couple of photos of Kasim Sulton and a review on Jennifer Salyer's Meat Loaf Multimedia website.
18.15 - Kasim receives a brief mention on a Styx website about the concert last night (Styx were one of the opening acts for Meat Loaf). It says:
"Kasim Sulton who plays bass with Meat Loaf is an old buddy of Glen Burnik's, and we all met him a couple of years ago when we played Glen's Xmas Xtravaganza at the Bottom Line in New York"
18.00 - Let's hope that Kasim wakes up in a good mood on Wednesday morning as he now doing two radio interviews via telephone within half an hour! Details are in the Gigs section of the site. Many thanks to Kasim Sulton for sending the info.
01.15 - A new message from Kasim Sulton has been posted to the front page of KasimSulton.com! It's actually dated 7/8/02 do maybe it has been up for a few days but it's certainly amusing to read!
07/11/02
18.15 - There are currently rumors of a Meat Loaf concert in Rochester, NY on 4th September! The Auditorium Theater may well be the venue.
18.00 - The News section of the site has been updated.

01.00 - Yesterday on TWO Todd Rundgren mailing lists there was some discussion by hopeful fans about a reunion tour by Utopia following Kasim Sulton's mention of it in the chat on 30th June and a post by former member of Utopia, Moogy Klingman. One person's comment was:
"I don't get the impression anyone gets to insist on much of anything with Todd. I'll tell you what Kas should do: Kasim should line up the rest of the band and book the tour, then ask Todd if he wants to participate in the "A Walk
Through the Streets of Utopia Tour". First set, everyone does solo stuff, second set, everyone does Utopia material. That usually works with Todd."

15.15 - In last week's edition of Las Vegas City Life, Kasim Sulton was the lead angle for a brief plug of the Meat Loaf concert in that city! Click here to read it (unfortunately Kasim did not actually play an opening set that night!). As the link may soon disappear, it says (with two spellings of his name!):
"Loaf it or leave it
Or you could spend some time listening to Meat Loaf get rowdy about ... his friends? On Thursday, July 4, at Mandalay Bay, the big guy (who a few years ago played the breast cancer survivor in Fight Club) introduces his musical director, bassist and background vocalist, Kasim Sulton, as an opener. Which is no big deal, unless you're the kind of record addict who recognizes the name, because this is the same guy who played bass for legends like Mick Jagger, Patti Smith, Indigo Girls, Joan Jett and Todd Rundgren. Oh yeah, he can be heard on Loaf's Bat Out of Hell. Sultan will be performing a solo acoustic set to open the show in addition to playing in Loaf's band. Could be interesting.
Jarret Keene "
04.00 - The set list for Kasim Sulton's concert last night has been added to the Meat Loaf Summer Tour section of the site. Many thanks to Laura England for this info.
02.00 - The News section of the site has been updated about Kasim's concert last night.
07/09/02
02.15 - Some more reviews have been added to the website for one of the Meat Loaf fan clubs. There are not too many Kasim Sulton mentions amongst them but there is one unusual spelling of his name - Kasim Sultin!
02.00 - For those people who were worried that, with the increasing number of Meat Loaf concerts that Kasim Sulton's gig in Boundbrook, NJ on 22nd August may be cancelled, there is a note on the website for one of the Meat Loaf fan clubs that there are no concerts from 30th July until 28th August so you can relax!

17.30 - The Press page of both the EPK and the main section of the site have been updated.
14.45 - Many thanks to Floyd for forwarding this review of the Meat Loaf concert at The House Of Blues, Chicago that mentions Kasim. In case the link disappears at some future point, it says:
"At 9pm sharp the lights went down and the crowd of partiers started chanting "Meat! Meat! Meat!" only to hear two small opening sets by Kasim Sulton and Patricia Rouseau. Who are they you ask? The audience asked them the same question. Seems the "& Friends" part of the bill was to include some of the band members and their solo work. Utopia bassist Kasim Sulton, who has played with Meat Loaf's band since day one, came out first to perform a 3-song solo-acoustic set "
01.30 - Last Sunday (30th) Kasim Sulton held his third online chat with his fans. An abridged transcript of the chat can be found in the Contact / Interactive section of the site.
01.00 - There is a new interview with Kasim Sulton available to read online. Click here to view it.
07/07/02
18.45 - The MP3 of the Celine Dion version of the Jim Steinman song Is Nothing Sacred has now been removed from both the site and my server. Please note that at no time did I, nor anyone linked to KasimInfo.com, inform Kasim Sulton that the unauthorized MP3 was available on the site.
17.30 - The Kasim Sulton Featured Video Of The Week section of the site has been updated.
09.30 - A couple of people have written to say that they were disappointed that Kasim Sulton has not been playing his opening set at all the concerts on the Meat Loaf tour. There has never been any guarantee that Kasim will be playing a set at ANY of the concerts. Unfortunately whether the opening set is played or not is subject to time restraints at the venue, whether the promotor has arranged his own opening act and Meat Loaf's whim! Originally the opening set(s) was only going to consist of Patti Russo so any Kasim Sulton opening set is really a bonus!
09.15 - A mini review of Kasim Sulton's concert last night has been added to the Meat Loaf Summer Tour section of the site. Many thanks to the kind person who sent the review.
08.30 - The News section of the site has been updated about Kasim's concert last night.
07/06/02
10.00 - The review of the concert last night has been updated in the Meat Loaf Summer Tour section of the site.
07.00 - Kasim Sulton's set list and a mini review has been added to the Meat Loaf Summer Tour section of the site. Many thanks to the kind person who sent the review.
05.00 - The News section of the site has been updated about Kasim's concert last night.
07/05/02
10.00 - The News section of the site has been updated.
02.30 - The News section of the site has been updated. (Due to the massive time difference of where I am and where Kasim is playing, I am still waiting to hear about the concert last night!)
07/04/02
19.00 - For the next 48 hours only there is an MP3 of the Celine Dion version of the Jim Steinman song Is Nothing Sacred on the site (it is a large file so will take a while to download). Kasim Sulton sings background vocals on the track (he can best be heard towards the end of the song). Please note that Kasim Sulton is NOT aware that this track is available currently from KasimInfo.com nor has he endorsed the posting of it. The decision to do so is mine alone.
13.15 - Another concert has been found on the Internet for the Meat Loaf Summer Tour that Kasim Sulton is playing - Augusta, ME on 29th August!
02.15 - There's a new interview with Kasim Sulton in the Press section of the site with some news about another track on Quid Pro Quo. Have I done my sums wrong or does that now make it 12 tracks on the album?
01.15 - Kasim Sulton receives a brief mention in the Popular Music topic on the Critics' Choice page for 30th June of The Denver Post online. Many thanks to Cindi DeCotis for forwarding this info. As it will soon disappear it says:
"Meat Loaf and his band have hit the road, but the "Just Having Fun for the Summer Tour" isn't in support of any album (his new CD "Testify" is slated to be released the end of the year). It's just the singer slicing up some of his hard-hitting rock sounds and offering band members like Kasim Sulton an opportunity to perform some of their own work. Meat Loaf will play at City Lights Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are $60, $49.50, $37.50 and $27.50, through Ticketmaster (303-830-8497)."
00.15 - Not too surprising but according to the This Day page of the site, today is the first day for 21 years that I've managed to find details of Kasim Sulton performing on 4th July!
