13.00 - There was a great write-up written by Brian Baker about
Kasim Sulton in the Cleveland Scene:
Kasim Sulton was 19 years old when Todd Rundgren tapped
him as the bass player in his newly streamlined and democratic version
of Utopia. For a decade, Sulton held that estimable post
while simultaneously lending his talents to Rundgren's production
projects, including albums by Shaun Cassidy, Rick
Derringer, and one of the biggest sellers of all time: Meat Loaf's
Bat Out Of Hell. Sulton released a solo album in 1982,
and after Utopia's dissolution, he teamed with Blackheart
Tommy Price for an album in 1986 (he ultimately joined the
Blackhearts full-time). Sulton has continued to work with
Rundgren and has maintained his relationship with Meat Loaf and
Jim Steinman, all of which has provided him with a constant source
of session work. Sulton's current solo tour finds the
multi-instrumentalist mounting the stage with just a guitar and a handful of
songs from his as-yet-untitled new solo album, due out later this year.
After nearly 25 years of playing other people's music, Sulton is
ready to once again concentrate on his own work.

14.00 - There was a write-up and photos of Kasim Sulton in two
Columbus newspapers today! In Columbus Alive it says:
Kasim Sulton must have some great stories. Can anyone else
claim to have participated in nine years of Todd Rundgren's
Utopia, contributed heavily on bass to Meatloaf's Bat Out Of
Hell, been called an official member of Joan Jett's
Blackhearts on tour in the 1980s, and backed up, among others, Ronnie
Spector, Patti Smith, Patty Smyth and Celine
Dion? See what other bases he covers in a solo acoustic set at Little
Brothers.
The Other Paper says:
Some big stars - literal and metaphorical - have guided
multi-instrumentalist Kasim Sulton through his nearly 30-year career:Todd
Rudgren, Richie Sambora, Joan Jett, Meatloaf.
But Saturday at Little Brother's, it'll just be Kasim, an
acoustic guitar and his lengthy (and meaty) career in the prog/classic
rock game.
