Kasim Sulton at the Hammersmith Apollo, London, England last night

Kasim Sulton plays a Todd Rundgren gig tonight in London, England
|
Kasim Sulton playing in London, England tonight
06.15 - Tonight Kasim Sulton plays the only British gig of the Todd Rundgren A Wizard A True Star Tour.
The gig tonight is at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London. Click here to view the venue website and here to purchase tickets for the gig. A few days ago two seats together were available in the 26th row. Tickets vary in price from £36.78 ($59) to £55.75 ($89).

This will be Kasim's first gig at this venue for at least twenty years (if ever) and his first gig in London since 23rd November 2008.
This venue opened on the 28th March 1932 as the Gaumont Palace cinema and was designed in the Art Deco style. It had 3,487 seats and a 35 foot deep stage, twenty dressing rooms and a café/restaurant located on the balcony/foyer area. For some concerts the stall area is used for standing but it will not be the case tonight.
The address of the venue is 45 Queen Caroline Street Hammersmith, London, W6 9QH. This venue has changed its name several times over the years but became the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in January 2009. Although Hammersmith is out of the center of London (it's to the west), it is easily accessible by underground and the station is opposite the venue. This venue is also one of the best known music venues in London.
Tickets for this gig state that the concert starts at 7pm but this venue is known for printing an incorrect time so that people arrive early and purchase alcohol!

Update on Meat Loaf
11.30 - The latest news is that Meat Loaf's new album will be released in April. A date was originally stated by a record website as Monday 12th April but that has not been officially announced. Kasim Sulton plays bass and sings background vocals on this album which was recorded over several months last year.
The name of the new album has also not been announced yet although Meat Loaf has said that the artwork for the cover is completed.
Meat Loaf arrived in UK this week as he is a judge (also called a critic or mentor) on a reality television programme called Popstar To Operastar. This programme airs on the UK national television station ITV1 each week for six weeks and takes eight established pop stars (probably Jimmy Osmond is the most internationally recognized name) and trains them to become opera singers.
Quite what Meat Loaf knows about opera singing isn't explained but other mentors include a home improvement presenter!
Click here to view the official website for the television programme and here to view a promo interview with Meat Loaf from earlier this week when he mentions his new album.

Analysis of Kasim Sulton's 2009
02.30 - The annual analysis of Kasim Sulton's year has been added to KasimInfo.com!
See below for full details but 2009 was the quiestest year since I started doing the analysis back in 2002 (errors and omissions excepted).
The analysis doesn't take into account the days he spent rehearsing before tours, all the travel time involved or when he was recording and it is possible that some items have been omitted (as it was much harder this year to ensure that I received the info). This analysis is based on the calender online here.
On the plus side, a new category was started - The Kasim Sulton Band!

| In the seven years that KasimInfo.com has been doing this annual analysis, 2009 was the quietest year for Kasim. Obviously this analysis doesn't take into account the days he spent rehearsing before tours, all the travel time involved or when he was recording and it is possible that some items have been omitted (as it was much harder this year to ensure that I received the info). This analysis is based on the calender online here.
Kasim also stayed in the US far more than he has done in present years. His only public appearance outside the country was a festival in Norway in June.
This year, other than solo gigs or gigs with his own band, Kasim only played as part of Todd Rundgren's band which accounted for 46 of his appearances but it is known that he spent several weeks in California recording with Meat Loaf.

The Kasim Sulton Band gig rescheduled
06.30 - According to a tweet on Twitter here by the promoters of the gig, The Kasim Sulton Band's gig at The M Room in Philadelphia, PA has been rescheduled for Friday 19th February 2010.
This gig replaces the one that the band should have played last night but was canceled due to snow. The new date is also listed on the promoter's website here although The M Room website has not been updated yet.
It doesn't specify but it's likely that tickets for yesterdays gig will still be valid (or refunds will probably be available). New tickets can be purchased from this link.
Unfortunately they're using a blurb again that makes it look as though Kasim has done nothing since 2007!

Kasim Sulton Band gig tonight canceled
05.00 - Kasim Sulton has posted a message to his 115 followers on Twitter that the gig tonight which he was supposed to play at The M Room in Philadelphia, PA has been canceled due to snow. He also said that apparently he was unable to get to Glen Burtnik's Xmas Xtravaganza gig too last night. Unfortunately this was not announced in advance although on the website Kasim is not listed among the artists performing.
At around midnight Kasim posted "Had to miss the Glen Burtnik show tonight because of the weather and it hasn't stopped snowing here yet. 16 inches so far" and soon after "With another 12 inches projected I'm afraid tomorrow show will have to be postponed as well."
It is unclear at the moment whether the show will be rescheduled or if refunds will be automatically made for tickets purchased.

Kasim Sulton at the Glen Burtnik's Xmas Xtravaganza tonight
10.15 - Tonight Kasim Sulton will be one of the musicians performing at the Glen Burtnik's Xmas Xtravaganza tonight at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ.
The Glen Burtnik's Xmas Xtravaganza is an annual event (this is the 19th one) which "benefits area food banks and other worthwhile charities." Each year Glen gets together a (large!) batch of musicians to perform either individually or as groups and Kasim joins in which ever year he is free.
Click here for the website and here to purchase tickets (which are almost sold out). The gig starts at 7.30pm.
The last time that Kasim played at the Count Basie Theatre in Redbank, NJ was on Friday 23rd April 2004 as part of Todd Rundgren's Liars Tour.

Utopia book officialy published
23.00 - Officialy the second volume of Billy James's biography about Todd Rundgren called A Dream Goes On Forever - The Continuing Story Of Todd Rundgren is published today although one website says that it will not be published until 1/1 now.
This volume covers the Utopia years (up until 1985) and features Kasim Sulton quite prominently as Billy interviewed him at length for the book, plus Kasim wrote the forward.
The book can be purchased from this link (and they will post overseas) and later on Amazon.com. Apparently the Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, OH will also be stocking the book early next year!
Only 2,000 hardback copies are being produced at a cost of $39.95 each. The softcover will be released at the same time and will cost $29.95. The book is 394 pages in length and includes 12 pages of color photos as well as black and white ones throughout the book.
Vault-Keeper posted a scan of the flyer which includes the cover (see right).
