Loved the show!! Meat and the band were all fired up and rocked the crowd - and not just those of us standing down in front of the barrier, but he eventually got all the tired fair-goers up on their feet and cheering as well.
The epic rocker left fans screaming for more, but just minutes after he left the stage, the sec-tor of the Allen County Fairgrounds nearest the grandstand went dark, the victim of a blown fuse.
The outage didn’t take anything away from the show, though, particularly after Meat Loaf and his crew seemed to warm up as the hits got bigger.
The weather stayed clear for the show, but a brief storm did dump an inch of rain on the Fairgrounds right before a sound check, Fair Manager Jay Begg said. The power outage, which hit shortly after 10 p.m., was an unexpected inconvenience, but it was manageable. "It looks like an overload on one leg of our three-phase power," Begg said, adding that he wasn’t sure whether the concert’s power draw played a role. "The concert was over. I’m guessing it was just an overload," he said.
Anyway, I must have been at a different show from the rest of you guys because I didn't think Meat sounded good at all. He hit a couple of notes along the way but it wasn't until BOOH that I thought he really started to come together. I don't expect him to sound like the album either (he never did, live) but I do expect him to be able to hold a note. I found Only When I Feel to be especially painful - I like the song, just not what he does with it. And though I love the theatrics of Paradise and how he seems to do it differently every time out, I thought he sounded almost equally as bad there too.
