Just a few random musings about the concert:
Leeds Castle is advertised as "probably the prettiest castle in the world" but it didn't look like that on a grey summers evening!
I opted to listen to the support band Hurricane Party from the car park (I like their music but it was just way too loud at Harewood House) but in the end we were directed off the motorway a junction early and went through a load of small villages for about 5 miles and then along a single track road for another mile which took over an hour so I listened to them en-route as I could still hear them!
I'm not going into too much detail (as they will have their own tales to tell) but I spoke to several disgrunted fans who had paid for packages and were disappointed. It sounds as though the platinum people were happy but two people who had paid $150 each for gold packages were given unreserved picnic-area tickets (and a plastic blue band)! The package states a seat in rows 2 to 15 so they disputed it and were moved to a seat but way behind row 15! As I got there late I didn't get a chance to ask the person who was re-allocated my front row seat (I was in the third row) where they got their ticket from but I did speak to a couple of people in the front row - one had bought his ticket from E-Bay and another from a ticket agency (not Fan Fire or TicketMaster).
The sound wasn't perfect tonight but that's probably because it's an outdoor location and was breezy at times which distorts the sound. Meat Loaf’s voice wasn’t too good tonight considering he's just had 4 nights off IMHO. Where I was sitting Kasim's vocals were mainly drowned out by Patti's most of the time and during All Revved Up at the beginning Meat Loaf's voice took on a metallic quality - it sounded like he was doing a dalek impression for about half a verse!
Someone (either Patti or CC) totally missed a line during the "What about...." part of Life Is A Lemon! They take it in turns to sing those lines (but not one after each other) and one line was missing tonight so there was just silence until the boys sang "It's defective"".
There was a couple of fans who right from the start wanted to stand in the aisle at the front but security didn't want that (security was tight today especially coming only a day after the London bombings) so they sent them back to their seats twice. The third time they went to the front some water from the top of the stage was blown off the top and drenched them - divine intervention I think it's called (or "serves them right" as the person next to me called it!).
The highlight of the concert for me was Kasim getting the audience to sing in You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth! After his solo gig on Monday, it was great to hear him sing solo again (albeit very briefly)!
Paul Crook shared Kasim's microphone tonight for the "Break it!" part of Only When I Feel.
As usually happens with seated audiences (there was seating at the front and standing / picnicing a fair way back) most people remained seated during the majority of the concert (well they had paid £50 at least for these seats!). Meat Loaf got us up during You Took The Words but then the next song is Only When I Feel which he starts by sitting on a stool so obviously most people sat again and didn't get up until Paradise By The Dashboard Light.
Instead of Kasim hitting his bass with his hand in time with the clapping in You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth, tonight he just strummed a cord which gave us a chance to hear his new bass clearly and it does have a lovely sound to it.
Randy Flowers was introduced as being from Brighton tonight (Brighton is about 50 miles from Leeds Castle)!
Kasim was wearing black trousers and his lovely red shirt (that makes him look like he has stubby fingers on his right hand!). Unfortunately Kasim was the one person that I didn't take a decent photo of tonight (I did only take photos during Anything For Love and Mercury Blues though).
In Paradise By The Dashboard Light tonight Meat Loaf started the snogging part by walking his fingers up Patti's trousers and across her top (which she took off). When she tried the same, once she got near his groin area he pulled away and said "Never on a first date".
Getting out of the car park was far easier than at Harewood House. It took about 20 minutes to get going but then we just sailed through. Outside the police had all the roads blocked so that within a minute of leaving the grounds we were on the motorway! It was a fair walk (across the putting green and past the castle) from the car park to the venue but we passed some peacocks on the way too!
What a week! Two things I never thought I'd see - Kasim playing a gig in the UK and him playing a concert in my county!

Kasim described this concert as "The show was a good one in my opinion, save for the deluge of rain that fell on the crowd prior to us going on. The funniest thing was the amount of water that had collected on the tarp covering the stage which no one knew about until a few gusts of wind came along, blew buckets of water down and summarily drenched the first few rows of unsuspecting fans!"
Kasim Sulton has updated his journal about this gig. There are photos of the castle, of people back stage and of Kasim here and here.
