  • First tip for a concert in Glasgow: ensure you know which motorway to drive on and don't waste 2 hours crossing the Pennines on a single track road getting behind tractors, a herd of cows and the slowest drivers in UK!
  • Second tip for a concert in Glasgow: if the British Open (a golf competition) is on, pre-book a hotel so you're not driving around until 2.30am trying to find a hotel with a spare room!
  • Third tip for a concert in Glasgow: wear wellingtons as the floor was awash with beer by the end of the concert.
  • I didn't take any photos tonight.
  • From the outside the Carling Academy looked like a really run-down warehouse (in front of a very dodgy looking housing estate) but inside it was a modern nightclub on about three levels.
  • This venue was probably double the size of Bristol and almost as tall as Birmingham.
  • I've seen more wood in these venues all week than there must be in about 3 forests! This one had laminated wood flooring and the same up the walls too.
  • The people at the gig were VERY friendly. I was on my own but several times people started chatting to me...you don't get that "down south"!
  • The recorded telephone message said that doors opened at 7.00pm with Todd on at "8.00pm prompt" but he didn't go on stage until past 8.20pm.
  • When I drove past just before 7.00pm there was the longest queue that I've seen on the UK tour.
  • While we were waiting for the show there was some Indian-sounding music playing (it only sounded slightly better than bagpipes to me!). Every time a track finished people were clapping and cheering for Todd - they were easily the most enthusiastic crowd!
  • No Temporary Insanity or Love Science tonight so it was a shorter set. The show finished at 10.38pm.
  • Todd walked on stage wearing his hooded cloak. When he took it off during Truth he was wearing his leather skirt outfit so Kasim was the only one on stage not wearing a skirt (as he said before the tour that he would be!).
  • Kasim didn't wear his hat or his glasses tonight.
  • Kasim wore his light pink suit for the pimp section. The woman behind me said about how much it "swamps" him. I hadn't noticed it before but as he doesn't have broad shoulders it really doesn't emphasis his shape to it's best advantage. He took his jacket off for the encore and then she mentioned about how high-waisted his trousers were!
  • Kasim was obviously in a good mood tonight. He moved around the stage more than normal. When he entered after getting changed, he stayed on the stage for a while before going into his pod.
  • During Prairie's drum solo in Green Onions Kasim went and sat on a packing case on the side of the stage (his feet were dangling as he couldn't reach the floor!).
  • I noticed tonight how much Kasim uses his foot pedals in Mammon. He does a fair bit anyway during the concert (certainly far more than when he plays with Meat Loaf) but in Mammon Kasim switches over time and again as the sound in the song changes.
  • At the beginning of Mammon, Kasim was kneeling down doing something to his pedal when Todd asked him if he was ready. Kasim nodded and then Todd pressed a button on his keyboard which makes me wonder if there is some taped music used at the beginning of that song?
  • During Sweet (a song in which Kasim is totally under-utilised!) at one point Kasim stood with his hands in his pockets before demonstrating his golf swing to Prairie (Kasim was supposed to have been playing golf today)!
  • Todd wasn't at all chatty today. He didn't do any introduction into IHMFISP. He obviously was having some trouble with his sound during a lot of the set (especially his solo part) and he went across to the sound techs about 3 times. He later said "I got out on the wrong side of the mattress today".
  • At one point in the set, Todd said "If it's not Scottish, it's crap - I don't know what that means either"!
  • After the audience sang in HIM, Todd declared that we were singing "as sweet as Scottish shortbread"!
  • The audience obviously just loved Kasim's bass solo tonight! He played a part of Hammer In My Heart and 7 Rays and loads of people were clapping along!
  • During Kasim's bass solo tonight, Prairie Prince just stood up in his pod and watched him.
  • Thankfully Todd didn't make any cutting comment about Kasim's bass solo tonight. He did say (as he has at most of the UK shows) that they played a real "shit-storm".
  • Kasim only used his black bass. His mauve one was in his pod but he stuck to his black bass (as he has at most gigs).
  • Randy didn't come on stage tonight - I didn't see him at all.
  • Apparently Sarah Douglas was in the audience. She was the Scottish girl who played the April 2003 Meat Loaf promo radio and concert.
  • There was no band intro tonight (other than the Jetsons part).
  • Todd was given a lei tonight and several necklaces.
  • I could almost have bet on it at the beginning of the tour but the "Mother F*****s" tonight in Glasgow were the loudest of the tour!
Roll on Manchester tomorrow....
