Kasim Sulton held an online chat with his fans in the Yahoo KasimSulton2 Chatroom for about 110 minutes. Unfortunately due to Yahoo having a limit to the size of the rooms, people were often kicked out of the chat (including Kasim twice).
Probably the least amount of info was eased out of Kasim at this online chat and few sensible questions were asked as the average age of the chatters was lower than normal (typical questions were things like whether Kasim can touch his nose with his tongue and if he could help someone with her homework!).
The interesting points that were mentioned (almost) in order were:
Kasim has heard "rumors" about some Meat Loaf gigs later in the year in the US - "But that is just that right now, rumors"
"I'm hoping I might do some solo shows here [UK] later in the year. I'm in the process of talking to a booking agency here to see if I can tour here. I'm hoping that they will take me on as a solo act. It's difficult to do something abroad without the proper set-up."
Someone asked if John Siegler helped Kasim get orientated in Utopia but Kasim said that he hadn't met him until years later.
"There is more than a chance that we will be doing For Crying Out Loud in Australia".
They have four days of rehearsals with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra scheduled in Melbourne.
Kasim hasn't heard any of the new Todd Rundgren music yet.
Kasim thinks that the board tapes that Meat Loaf posted about yesterday will be available on E-Bay (E-Bay was Meat Loaf's idea) - "there will be plenty to have". Kasim said that his opening sets will not be available with these but his opening sets will be available later.
When asked about where the Bat Out Of Hell III concert may be played, Kasim replied, "As of now, Bat III is JUST being discussed".
Rehearsals with Todd Rundgren start on 3rd April.
Kasim hasn't asked Meat Loaf what he thinks of Quid Pro Quo "I don't think it's his cup of tea really"
When asked if Meat Loaf was feeling 100% now, Kasim replied "It was a really hard year for him. And he really hasn't stopped yet. I'm sure he's looking forward to having March, April, May and June off".
Kasim only uses Spector bases and Euphonic Audio amps on tour.
Kasim did not write Before She Was Gone due to "a personal reason".
Kasim reckons that he is "a hygiene freak" and that his worst habit is smoking.
Kasim is planning "a fun evening" on 7th February and hopes it goes smoothly.
Kasim is not a big Steve Earle fan.
When asked why Meat Loaf didn't attend his Meet and Greet last night, Kasim replied, "He was absolutely knackered after last nights show. He got in the car and drove back to the hotel."
Kasim liked the River Phoenix movie "Stand By Me" and his favorite movie is "It's A Wonderful Life".
When asked if Kasim had done a lot of sightseeing in London, he replied that he had been here so often over the past 10 years that "there's nothing left to see. I love London. I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive. My favorite store here is Fortnum and Mason.".
Kasim's New Year was "uneventful".
Kasim is "all out" of copies of Quid Pro Quo at the Meat Loaf concerts.
Kasim said that he will be playing some dates in Florida with Todd Rundgren in May, plus "there are 3 TR shows in NYC. West Coast possibly in August".
If Kasim could travel back in time, the person that he would most like to meet is Christ.
"Lots of people say they are my friend but it doesn't mean that they are."
The arrangements for the Australian concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are "totally different" to the arrangements on the Night Of The Proms Tour. "I've been working with the conductor."
The second show in Sydney, Australia was cancelled because "Meat needed a second day to rest".
"I was this close to being in a play last April but Meat had promo to do so I had to drop out."
Despite it not being on Quid Pro Quo, Kasim promised to sing Sometimes Love Is A Dangerous Thing sometime again before the end of the UK leg of the tour.
When asked whether Meat Loaf kissing a guy in the audience at one of the Manchester concerts was a set-up, he replied "That was as much a surprise to him as it was to us. We had no idea that Meat was going to do that. I swear."
Kasim thinks that his brother Alex will be appearing on 7th February with him too. Kasim said that he has two brothers and his other one is called Lance.
Kasim first learnt to play the guitar and then taught himself all the other instruments that he plays.
Kasim "didn't really" like The Darkness.
Kasim's favorite "drink of choice" is Constant Comment "with a dollop French Sunflower Honey". Kasim's favorite chocolate is Dark Chocolate Toblerone.
"My son is 8 and he is my best friend".
Kasim was given his name by his father and it is Arabic / Turkish.
When Meat Loaf was sick, Kasim stayed in England the whole time - "We stayed in Manchester and London".
Kasim said that CC now does actually play the guitar part in Testify on stage - "I taught her".
