Don't Hold Me Back Before She Was Gone Sacrifice
Wasted Youth Speech Livin' In The USA We were told there was no opening act. While waiting in line for our backstage passes, I heard Kasim come on stage solo! He did about a 20 minute act. I have never seen Meatloaf in concert before. Kasim was definitely running the show. Being a Meatloaf newbie, I didn’t know what to make of the first time I saw him shaking the mic in his hand, I thought he was going to stroke out. I guess it’s just part of the show. He did this several times. Bob had noticed, at one point, Kasim (with musical director ‘hat’ on) was talking to someone off of the side possibly the sound guys, Kasim was trying to correct something that was apparently wrong off stage. According to Bob, Kasim went back to center stage and backed towards the audience Meatloaf looked him right in the face with a question mark in his eyes and Kasim nodded okay, Meatloaf started singing. I think Meat is taking directions from Kasim. Oh, and for all of my male friends you were right, Patti is a hottie! Kasim must have been chilly, a couple of times during the show he cupped his hands together and blew into them, and held them in front of a colored stage light to keep them warm. He looks very slender. Does this guy EVER age? What a doll! Meatloaf gave us the story about a silver jacket he just put on, he was chilly too. He heard some music (he thought it was the Eagles) playing down the road at his house (he has since moved) on Mulholland Drive in Hollywood, only to drive down there to find that it is a garage sale. He says “why not?” and goes into the sale. He carried his guitar down in case Joe Walsh was down there to autograph it. There is a table with a metal cash box and Don Henley of the Eagles sitting behind it ! He found a silver jacket and said “how much do you want for it?” Don told him $10. “you gotta be crazy” “I will give you 75 cents for it”, ok, so he bought it. It’s a great silver short biker style coat. He sure needed it, you could see his breathe at one point I had expect for Kasim’s words to come out in the cold air LOL. I could just vision “Bat out of ....” in cold vapor. Later in the show, Meatloaf said he was going to say something that would cost him $50. He used the F word (Kasim’s face was in total disbelief) and said he owes about $950. this leg of the tour alone, by the time it would be over he’d owe $5,000 and he could throw one big party with that money, and that we were all invited. Meatloaf was trying to make a smooth move with the microphone, it fell into the audience and they handed it back to him. He regained his composure and pulled it off! On one song the two guitar players were playing faster and faster and Meatloaf kept trying to get them to do it even faster, he puts his guitar around his neck, tries to play it fast, finds out that he can’t and he flips them each the finger and jesters with his mouth F you. One song they turned on flames in the background, they were long pieces of fabric with air blown into them, and colored lights. It was a cool effect. They put on a full 2 hour show with no breaks. On one song, they pulled people from the audience on stage to play instruments. It’s odd, since when I see Todd solo, I miss Kasim. Kasim stood on his own, solo and with Meatloaf. We were so proud of ‘our Kasim’. At the end of the show, they blew red white and blue confetti all over the crowd. Kasim smiled the whole gig. He looked like he was really having a great time up there! He is one great guy! Rumors of a Feb. date in Detroit I hope it’s true!
