This was a promotional in-store appearance by Kasim to promote his new CD Quid Pro Quo. As well as performing live some tracks from the album he signed copies of the CD.
Here are some of the questions we asked of Kasim and he of us:
Kasim asked if anyone would like to hear a Todd song.
I chimed in with “Todd who?” (Kasim had a puzzled look on his face).
(Bob) When did you first meet Todd?
(Kasim) 1976
(Bob) How did you meet Todd?
He heard from a friend in April of 1976 that Todd Rundgren was looking for a bass player, he borrowed $20 from an Uncle for bus fare since his parents were all done loaning him money for his musical career! He took a bus up to Woodstock and got the job!
(Bob) What have you heard about the Power Trio tour?
(Kasim) News to me. I will have to make some calls. If Todd calls I will drop everything I am at his beck and call, I owe a lot to Todd.
(Michele and Bob) It was posted on a Todd list that the April dates in CT. were Power Trio gigs but when you go to Pollstar you need to type in Todd Rundgren, and the dates come up under Todd’s name. Just a rumor. Kas said he would find out.
(Michele) I told Kasim Bob and I met via the Interocitor thanks to Todd. He asked me if Todd knew and I told him yes Todd has told us that he was going to put up a wedding channel.
He said he would be back our way next year for sure.
I gave Kasim a birthday card and got a hug in return. We took a group photo (now THAT’S a Power Trio shot).

He told the story of how he got his first guitar. He was begging for an electric guitar for Christmas and his family was lower middle class, he did end up getting it for Christmas. He doesn’t remember what his sister got but he did get the good present that year.
He told us about how his kids were playing in the snow back home before he left.
He talked about how he was playing the Beatles tune “Across the Universe” when he was doing his sound check in England he realized he forgot the words to the last verse and he knew he couldn’t get that song wrong in England. He looked it up on the internet and reread the words and got it flawless in Liverpool when he was opening for Meat Loaf.
When he forgot the lyrics to the song at Border’s Bob said “it’s okay, you are just having a Todd moment”.
He played “Back on the Street” in a way he said he had never done before. He did it in a different key.

He told us he just turned 47 years old and someone asked how he stayed looking so young?
He told us his theory how you should drink until you are 30 and stop, this would preserve you (pickle) and help you stay looking young. The secret was you could never have another drink until after age 30 because now you are pickled.
His guitar case was pink fur lined! Michele was happy to see this!
He sounded better than when he played at Old Miami last year. He would say things like “hey man how are you doing” to a kid walking by, smiling and singing all the time. He said he was in a good mood, life is too short to be in a bad mood ever! Todd is a lucky man to have found Kasim!

Many thanks to Michele and Robert for the review and photos
