Moogy Klingman and his band began the show on a slightly unhappy note, that soon turned to a happy one -- due to some time problems, he thought his audience for the evening consisted of only about 7 people. But when he was told that most everyone else was waiting for him downstairs, he quickly dashed down and let everyone in to the club for a wonderful evening of Todd, Utopia and Nazz tunes. Once the club was filled to capacity, the festivities began.

The show started with Moogy and his Freak Parade tackling old Utopia tunes. Julie, his female singer was a nice addition from the last woman I saw perform with Moogy, but at times, her movements on stage threw me a little. Luckily, she had a voice that more then made up for it. I wish I could let you know what songs they did, but I'm not too familiar with them, except I know The Freak Parade was one, as well as Dust in The Wind, a song that Axel Rose apparently is covering now.
Stewkey then joined the band and performed old Nazz tunes. He was pretty good as well, and really seemed to be enjoying himself. He had a funky attire, but for some reason it just worked for him!

Then the highlight of the evening, Kasim came out and performed with everyone as well! Kasim, Stewkey, Moogy and The Freak Parade performed four songs together. Stewkey took the first two, Kasim performed the last two. Open My Eyes and Hello It's Me were great, as it was so nice seeing Kasim perform with these guys but the highlights were of course when he got to sing It Wouldnt Have Made Any Difference and Set Me Free - it was so cool to see Kasim perform these songs with a full band and everyone really grooved along and got into it, on and offstage!

Then Kasim got to perform his own acoustic set with Doug Kennedy and Mark Alexander. Unfortunately it was slightly shortened, due to the time problems but it was a great set nonetheless, despite a few more snags! Kasim and Doug started things off with Sacrifice, and although I swear I could hear Doug's guitar, he couldn't get it turned on officially. So while the sound guy tried to get Doug set, Kasim then proceeded to perform Cliche and Back On The Street by himself. Doug still was having trouble but it was then time for Mark Alexander to join them onstage on the piano. They then performed The One Sure Thing, There Goes My Inspiration, Before She Was Gone and One World - but I swear that by the time they got to Before She Was Gone, Doug was finally back on, but I may be wrong on that! Nonetheless the three of them performed as great as always!

All too soon Kasim's set was over and Moogy was back on the stage with his band for a few more songs. At the end of the show, he brought out Stewkey, Kasim and a few other friends to perform, You've Got To Have Friends, a song made famous by Bette Midler. Kasim really seemed to have a great time on this song, laughing and smiling the whole time.

At the end of the evening, Kasim, Moogy and everyone else who performed stuck around to sign CD's, pose for pictures and speak with everyone who wanted a moment of their time. This especially showed just how gracious Kasim is with his fans, as even Moogy had stated during the show that Kasim had an early flight to catch the next day - but it didn't make Kasim rush through his time with his fans for one second. It truly shows just how much Kasim's fans mean to him.
This was Kasim's last full set for the year, but he'll be opening some of Meat Loaf's shows this Fall and Winter - if they come to your area, GO! At least it will be a mini treat of how great Kasim is live until he can get back on the road with more of his own shows.
