The area of Saratoga is refined, quaint, beautiful, modern yet discreet.
And the audience at tonight's show, proved to be as similar as their surroundings (well at least early in the evening anyway, but that's another story....).
Kasim opened the show, and although the crowd was still filing in and finding their seats, about 1/4 of the fully attended show was already seated. At first there was a small amount of chatter during Kasim's set, but upon looking around at everyone, it could be seen that Kasim's wonderful voice and engaging charm and personality were winning them over. He opened his set with one of his older songs, Don't Hold Me Back. It was pleasantly received but his next song, Before She Was Gone went over quite well, and was really a hit with several couples in the audience. There was an added bonus of pianist Mark Alexander accompanying Kasim during this song, and his keyboard melodies added a nice soft touch to the ! already beautiful song.
Kasim joked with the crowd and received applause several times, and then performed his last number, The One Sure Thing. It is a tender and beautiful love song, of a slightly different variety then the 'usual.' Sulton was a wonderful beginning to a great, fun and rockin' evening! Catch one of his solo shows if he comes to your town.
This whole show is quite nice, I hope it stays this way. Kasim has a few fun moments in the whole show too!
